Battle for each point: UMMC vs. Post SV Mühlhausen

2018/19 TTCLM quarter-finals, Leg 2

After a tight match held two weeks ago in Germany, UMMC and Post SV Muhlhausen are preparing for another tough game in the second leg of the 2018/19 TTCLM quarter-finals. Russian club, 2012 runner-up, starts with a 3:2 (12:9) advantage, thanks to Andrej GACINA who took two points, including decisive one against Lubomir JANCARIK. The match will be held this Friday, February 8th, 15:00 CET.

"Taking into account that we won only in the fifth match, the fight turned out to be difficult”, stated Dmitrii BALACHENKOV, director of the UMMC. "Post SV Mühlhausen is rather strong team, the opponent has four approximately equal in strength athlete. Not everything worked out for our players in that match. FANG Bo was a little bit tired after the match, for GROTH, IONESCU was not a very convenient rival, so maybe this determined the outcome of the match. They fought for every point. Andrej GACINA was the hero of the match. We were very satisfied with his play.”

BALACHENKOV added that his side approaches this clash in a full strength:

"All the players are in good physical shape now. Everything is easier at home, so it should be easier to play. By the end of the match in Mühlhausen, my head started to ache a little because of very loud fans. We hope our fans will support as the same actively and then the victory will be ours!

Ovidiu IONESCU cut UMMC lead to 2-1, as he beat Jonathan GROTH in the third game.

"I think we proved we are strong enough to beat Ekaterinburg. We know in Russia will be very hard to beat them but the team is in good shape and looking forward for another big game," explained Romania’s player.

Muhlhausen’s Daniel HABESOHN won bronze medal at the CCB Europe Top 16 Cup held last weekend in Montreux, as he lost to Timo BOLL after full seven games. He did a great job for his team in the first leg, by beating China’s FANG Bo, to level the score at 2-2:

"We are under pressure, but I think our team is strong enough to deal with it. Despite the 2:3 loss in the first leg we still believe that we can reach the semi-final of the TTCLM. We are good prepared and we will fight like lions to get this victory."
