Seamaster ECLW: Top seed wins away

First quarter-final leg: Linz AG Froschberg – KTS Tarnobrzeg 1:3

 

Actual Seamaster ECLW runner-up and 2017/18 no. 1 seed KTS Tarnobrzeg has notched 3:1 away win against two-time winner Linz AG Froschberg, in spite of losing opening clash. Current world no. 32 HAN Ying provided two wins for Polish champion.

 

22 Sophia POLCANOVA (world no. 22) secured early lead for Austrian side, as she beat LI Qian (no. 38) after full five games. Each set was tense, especially ultimate one decided by a narrow margin.

 

HAN Ying was extended to full distance by ZHANG Mo (no. 33), but managed to tied the score after second match.

 

Turning point was seen in the third match when former individual European champion Elizabeta SAMARA (world no. 26) overcame Linda BERGSTROM (no. 170) in four games. Host missed two chances to tied up at 2:2, but guest secured victory in fourth set, taking four points in a row (8:10 to 12:10).

 

HAN also recorded four consecutive points (7:6, 11:6) in fourth set against POLCANOVA to confirm Tarnobrzeg`s win.
