Both European teams unbeaten in Sharm El-Sheikh
2015 ITTF World Cadet Challenge
Europe repeated the last year's success by beating the Asian team at the 2015 ITTF World Cadet Challenge in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh. Anastasia KOLISH, Andreea DRAGOMAN and Christina KALLBERG in full distance thriller beat Maki SHIOMI, Jinnipa SAWETTABUT and CHOI Haeeun. However, unlike the previous year, the success came in the Group phase of the Team Event. Year ago captained also by Marc CLOSSET; represented by Adina DIACONU, Lisa LUNG and Maria TAYLAKOVA, Daria TRIGOLOS Europe won the Girls’ Team title at the ITTF World Cadet Challenge in Bridgetown, Barbados. At the final hurdle they overcame the Asia Team trio of Mima ITO, LEE Ka Yee and KIM Jiho by three matches to two.
Today the winner of the cadet ROMSTAL European Top 10, recently held in Buzau, DRAGOMAN secured two points whilst KOLISH added another one after remarkable recovery from two games to nil in reverse. She was two games down in the opening stage of the decisive match against SAWETTABUT, before she recovered.
In the match against Hopes, DRAGOMAN also won both her encounters, against Elizabet ABRAAMIAN and Sara ELHAKEM, whilst Anastasia KOLISH, again recorded one win. She beat CHITALE Diya Parag. In the match against Africa, Europe won 3:0. DRAGOMAN, KOLISH and Zdena BLASKOVA all scored against Nandeshwaree JALIM, Loubna DJEDJIK and Lekeasha JOHNSON.
Europe is at the top of the Group B, whilst Latin America secured the top position in Group A.
In Cadet Boys Team Event Europe is also unbeaten, The last year's silver medalists recorded three straight matches wins over Latin America, Africa and Oceania.
Against Africa Cristian PLETEA beat Nathael HAMDOUN, Truls MOREGARD succeeded against Youssef ABDEL-AZIZ and Medardas STANKEVICIUS overcame Abdelbasset CHAICHI. Against Oceania Cristian CHIRITA got his chance instead of MOREGARD, but the outcome was the same; 3:0 for Europe. PLETEA, MOREGARD and CHIRITA added another victory to the score board against Latin America.
