This season Borussia Düsseldorf already clinched the titles in Champions League and German Cup. Today they add another trophy to their list – the Bundesliga title. In the Liebherr TTBL final they overcame 1. FC Saarbrücken TT 3:1

Even Timo BOLL couldn't quite believe it after the game. “Saarbrücken is an incredibly strong opponent. At any point could not you say in which direction the game was going, ”said the table tennis superstar on Sunday afternoon.

A few minutes earlier, BOLL had once again achieved something historic with Borussia Düsseldorf in the Helmut-Körnig-Halle in Dortmund: With the 3-1 victory in the Liebherr TTBL final against 1. FC Saarbrücken TT, the record champions not only won for the 31st time the title in the table tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), but also the fourth triple in the club's history after 2010, 2011 and 2018. In the past few months, Borussia had already triumphed in the Champions League and the German Table Tennis Cup.

Anton KÄLLBERG once again outshone everyone on Sunday - even Timo BOLL. Once again called up in first position, the Swede showed his class and finally crowned an outstanding season with the decisive match point. In the fourth set of the top individual, the 23-year-old saved a set ball from Darko JORGIC, scored twice for 3:1 (11: 5, 11: 8, 10:12, 12:10). Previously, KÄLLBERG had already defeated Patrick FRANZISKA 3:1 (8:11, 12:10, 11:8, 11:9).

“Anton made a huge leap. He has carried us through every game this season, ”said Boll after the game.

The 40-year-old himself defeated SHANG Kun 3:1 (9:11, 11: 8, 11: 7, 11: 7) at the third position. For Saarbrücken, Darko JORGIC won the first single against Kristian KARLSSON 3:2 (11: 9, 11: 8, 4:11, 9:11, 11: 4).

“We have been working towards this goal for months. I am very happy and proud that we have now made it, ”said KÄLLBERG, who has been the player of the season in the TTBL since Sunday.

Borussia coach Danny Heister said: “Anton was in top form the entire season. He deserved to play in first place in the final too. We made exactly the line-up that we wanted. Nevertheless there are no guarantees. "
