Junior Girls

Already in the opening round of the Junior Girls Event we saw two great thrillers. Italy's Jamila LAURENTI was four times at the edge, but she recovered each time to win the match against Germany's Sophie KLEE. In addition no. two seed, Elena ZAHARIA of Romania was stretched to full distance against Croatia's Hana ARAPOVIC. Top seeded Vlada VORONINA of Russia prevailed against Linda ZADEROVA of Czech Republic in five games.

The atmosfere heated up in the second round. There were no easy matches. ZAHARIA was the only who finished her match in five games against Sophie KLEE , but all were very close. Once again LAURENTI was forced to play all seven games, but this time it was Camille LUTZ who felt the joy of success.

Hana ARAPOVIC withstood the spirited comeback of Vlada VORONINA. Russia's player recovered from 3:1 in reverse to level the match, but in the seventh game Hana prevailed.“Last time when we played against each other at Top 10, in Berlin, it was also seven games match, but it ended in her favor,” said ARAPOVIC.

Camille LUTZ remained unbeaten after three rounds and she had a very tough encounters.

“Against COK it was difficult as it was expected, we play against each other very often. Today, I played my best match against her so far. Going seven games against Jamila was tough as the result predicts. I had 3:1, but she recovered to level. I was angry of myself. To beat LAURENTI you have to play perfectly on each ball. You can not afford the mistakes. Luckily I reduced the errors in the decisive game to win. ZAHARIA was the big favorite. I never beat her before, but in our last encounter in Slovenia I had 2:0 lead, so I knew I can put the pressure on her. I knew I had a chance and I took it. Our supporters helped me do that. It is so nice to play in France and to play in front great crowd in Tours. It gives me big push forward,” said LUTZ.

Ozge YILMAZ of Turkey was in charge for the biggest drama in the third round. She had 3:1 against LAURENTI, but then Italian player recovered and pushed into the decider which ended by narrowest of margins.
