Borgar HAUG crowned champion at the Juniors Event in Tours
Borgar HAUG of Norway clinched gold in the Junior Boys Event at the TAMANNEFTEGAS European Youth Top 10 in Tours. In dramatic finish by narrowest of margins Ivor BAN of Croatia beat Adrien RASSENFOSSE of Belgium, and reached the silver. By doing so he pushed HAUG back to the top spot. Third is Maciej KUBIK of Poland.
Borgar HAUG lost two matches, like the other two medal winners, but the one in the last round against Thibault PORET put him into agony. PORET was match ball down but he recovered to win the match. HAUG was forced to wait for the outcome of the last match at the tournament between BAN and RASSENFOSSE.
“It was so difficult. I was angry and disappointed because of the defeat and then I have to wait for someone else to decide my faith,” explained HAUG.
Speaking about previous three days of play, HAUG pointed to hardest match.
“I lost against ANDRAS and PORET and there is no doubt, how hard were those matches, but when I speak about the victories, than I have to say Darius MOVILEANU put me under great pressure,” said HAUG.
When you felt you can win here?
“After I beat KUBIK. That was very good match. I was at the top of the game. I started to think about the victory, but I was aware how dangerous is this tournament. All the players are very close, you must always stay focused,” said HAUG.
