The CCB Europe Top16 Cup remains in Montreux for 3 more years
ETTU Executive Board during the Champions League Final 4 in Saarbrücken on Easter Sunday awarded the Swiss Table Tennis with the organisation of the 2026 and 2027 CCB Europe Top 16 Cup to be played in Montreux. That means that the CCB Europe Top 16 Cup will stay in Switzerland for next three years.
“ETTU Executive Board took the decision to keep our Europe Top 16 Cup in Montreux for the next 3 years. This decision will allow ETTU to keep working with Swiss TTA and the local organizing committee to further develop the competition model of this very prestigious event. While we are internally discussing some enhancements, our intension is to present them to the next ETTU Congress, aligning some rules also with the new ITTF World Cup. In name of all ETTU Executive Board, let me congratulate the Swiss TTA and the Organizing Committee not only to winning the bid for the next 3 events but also for the excellent table tennis show we’ve been able to present in Montreux in the recent years,” stated ETTU President Pedro MOURA.
The Board of STT, the members of the organizing committee, and surely the entire table tennis family of STT are immensely pleased with this decision.
“The ETTU's decision to entrust the organization of the Cup for another three years demonstrates the excellent work the organizing committee has done in the past. Swiss Table Tennis is very pleased to provide our sport with a globally recognized show in Montreux. STT looks forward to the upcoming competitions and already wishes the organizing committee the best of luck,” said STT Vice President Freddy OSWALD.
President of the Organizing Committee Philipp von BEUST added:
“It is now official that Montreux will host the Top16 for the next three years. The ETTU has entrusted us with organizing the event until 2027. My entire board and I consider this decision an honor and also a reward for all the work we have done over the past six editions. I also include Swiss Table Tennis, all our volunteers, and our sponsors, who are essential parts of this success. But above all, it is an opportunity for our sport to host the Top16 until 2027. It represents an incredible showcase for table tennis, and we will do everything in our power to fill the Pierrier Hall once again. So, see you on February 21, 22, and 23, 2025, in Montreux.”
The local organizing committee, led by President Philippe von BEUST and his predecessor Nicolas IMHOF, had the following objectives from the outset: popularize table tennis in Switzerland, Swiss Quality and Swiss Hospitality in all areas for players, spectators, and sponsor and professional yet familial atmosphere. These objectives remain valid for the next 3 years, with continuous improvements targeted in all areas. An increase in prize money to at least Fr. 150,000 for 2025 is aimed at enhancing the tournament's reputation and ensuring that the best players will participate.
Preparations for the CCB Europe Top16 Cup in Montreux, scheduled for February 21-23, 2025, have already begun. The organizing committee held first meeting last weekend in Montreux.
