Darko JORGIC and Deni KOZUL best junior’s pairings
Slovenia reached the gold in Doubles
Darko JORGIC and Deni KOZUL of Slovenia prevailed against Malte MOREGARDH and Simon SODERLUND of Sweden in the ultimate duel in the Junior Boys Doubles Event at the European Youth Championships in Bratislava 3:1 (8, -9, 7, 5).
“We came here to win the gold. It was our aim from the very beginning. We have been challenged in the semi final against Belarus combination, but we stayed in competition. And at the end we beat very good pairings of Sweden” said JORGIC.
In the penultimate stage MOREGARDH and SODERLUND beat Alexandre CASSAN and Can AKKUZU of France 3:0 (11, 11, 9). It seamed that Sweden and France played against each other in all crucial matches in Bratislava.
“We already played against Europe’s number two and three here in Bratislava, so we were prepared. Tactically, we were very good,” said SODERLUND.
Not only tactics made the difference.
“It was very close match. We won each game by the narrow margin. Every time when it was 9:9 or 10:10, we were better. We had bigger faith in ourselves,” said MOREGARDH.
Slovenian pairings JORGIC and KOZUL beat Aleksandr KHANIN and Nikita YARUSHIN of Belarus 3:2 (4, 6, -6, -7, 7).
“We were very focused on the beginning and prevailed in the opening games easily. They rose they game afterwards, but we did not lose or head. At 2:2 we entered the arena like the match started at that point,” explained KOZUL.
JORGIC stated that their partnership started this season.
“We won Czech Open this year.”
