Winner of the Under 21 Women’s Singles title at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour German Open one day earlier when beating the Japanese left hander Hina HAYATA in three straight games at the final hurdle the host nation’s Petrissa SOLJA took a liking to another Japanese left hander one day later.

At the quarter-final stage of the Women’s Singles event she accounted for Kasumi ISHIKAWA the top seed. Not only did she beat the top seed she won in four straight games (11-4 11-7 11-6 13-11).

“Definitely my best win ever I can’t believe I just beat a top five player” said a dazed Petrissa SOLJA slowly coming to terms with her achievement.“At the beginning I felt she was nervous I wanted to take advantage of that and not let her play” added Petrissa SOLJA. “So I just kept on hammering her backhand to put pressure on her. It’s a new day tomorrow and a new opponent so hopefully I can win again. I have now won 12 matches from 12 so I want to make it 13.”

Defeat for Kasumi ISHIKAWA means that of the 16 seeds who started their quest one day earlier only Singapore’s FENG Tianwei remains; she booked her place in the penultimate round courtesy of a six games win over the Chinese defender LIU Fei.

In the penultimate round Petrissa SOLJA meets GU Ruochen Mima ITO opposes FENG Tianwei.

In Men’s Singles Event Dimitrij OVTCHAROV keeps the host nations hopes alive. Best ranked European player is the only non- Chinese semifinalist. MA Long beat Timo BOLL in quarters YAN An accounted for Japan’s Jun MIZUTANI whilst ZHANG Jike overcame Vladimir SAMSONOV after seven games battle. OVTCHAROV overcame his compatriot Ruwen FILUS.
