At April 4th – exactly six months before the LIEBHERR European Table Tennis Championships 2013 at the Multiversum Schwechat/Werner SCHLAGER Academy the final contract was signed today. Austrian Table Tennis Association (ÖTTV) together with its partner, the Werner SCHLAGER Academy (WSA), agreed in 2010 to host the European Championships.

And this is an important step towards the LIEBHERR European Table Tennis Championships. In the agreement, all issues have been resolved in detail. For the organizers, most importantly, all the rights regarding the title sponsorship, TV rights and the general advertising guidelines are determined; the setup at the Werner SCHLAGER Academy and the event hall of the Multiversum Schwechat, especially the setup of the TV Courts.

Also a provisional timetable for the event was created after the number of tables were determined – at the European Table Tennis Championships 2013 it will be played on twelve tables at the same time.

Stefano BOSI, President of the European Table Tennis Union attended the press conference today in Vienna: “I am pleased that today we meet here to sign a contract between the ETTU and the Organizing Committee. The European Championships are the most important event on our continent. Because of the huge number of teams and players, as well as the thousands of fans, it is a challenge to organize such an event. The ETTU is happy to have a perfect team with the ÖTTV and the WSA as a partner. Austria has proved on several events and tournaments as an excellent organizer and we are confident that we will bring the tournament in October on the highest level.”

Rudolf SPORRER, General Secretary of the Austrian Table Tennis Association said: “Organizationally, we are already very far. By signing the agreement, we can now work on many aspects, such as accommodation, catering and finalize the schedule and TV coverage. ” Martin SÖRÖS, CEO Werner SCHLAGER Academy: “We are not here to organize the second best European Championships. We want to celebrate an event. The European Championships are an important impulse for the Werner SCHLAGER Academy and for Table Tennis in Austria for the next decades. “
