QIU Dang led Borussia Düsseldorf to victory

Top seed in Group A of the Champions League Men Borussia Düsseldorf recorded second victory out of two encounters.

HB Ostrov Havlíčkův Brod was on the other side of the net in both duels Borussia Düsseldorf played this season. Like in previous duel this time in Czech Republic Ostrov lost in four matches. They also suffered in the matches against Poland’s KS Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki.

Anton KÄLLBERG overcame Tomas TREGLER (11:4 11:9 8:11 11:7) to give Germany’s club advantage at the start but the key player tonight was QIU Dang with two wins. He overcame Pavel SIRUCEK (11:8 11:6 11:9) and Michal OBESLO (11:8 11:6 13:11). Tomas MARTINKO was the only player to score for hosts side. He beat Kay STUMPER (11:9 9:11 11:9 11:8).

“We have a very demanding schedule and a lot of travel behind us. That is why a 3:1 win is very valuable. We changed the line-up a bit from the first match in Düsseldorf but QIU Dang showed that he prepared well for this match. He played very well. On the contrary Kay STUMPER plays often and you could see that he is a bit tired. But as I say I am very satisfied ‘ said Borussia Düsseldorf Coach Danny HEISTER.

Playing with Borussia leaves no many options and HB Ostrov coach Dmitry PROKOPTSOV is aware of it.

“The 1:3 result is not bad I could probably be satisfied with that. Unfortunately the performances were not quite ideal. The Germans have their strength but for example I expected Pavel ŠIRUČEK to put QIU Dang under more pressure. On the other hand Tomáš MARTINKO who is working hard on himself and has improved since the beginning of the season has improved in terms of playing aggressiveness and confidence.”
