HB Ostrov are once again the champions of the Czech Republic

Just like last year it’s HB Ostrov clinched the title in the top division this season. They defeated SKST Cheb the winners of the group phase 3:2 and 3:0.

The return leg played in the hall of Havlíčkův Brod wasn’t as even as the first duel but 700 spectators in the stands were satisfied. The trio of Michal OBEŠLO Tomáš TREGLER and Dmitrij PROKOPCOV pushed their tam to the victory.

The play off hero was Michal OBEŠLO with a perfect score of seven wins out of seven matches. However he found himself in a loosing position in the last one. But he got the point despite trailing 0:1 and then 1:2 on sets against Antonín GAVLAS. Cheb was a worthy opponent. Except for Antonín GAVLAS it was David REITŠPIES who had a brilliant season. Third to the party was the defender Stanislav KUEČRA.

It was HB Ostrov’s final. Although their coach Bohumil VOŽICKÝ admitted it was a tougher title race than last time. „We played against two very difficult opponents in the play offs EL Niňo Praha and then Cheb in the final. We defeated both of them whcih makes the trophy even more valuable.“ The bronze medal belongs to El Niňo Praha.
