Tamanneftegas Europe Cup successfully concludes with Men’s Final in Varazdin

The Tamanneftegas Europe Cup Men’s Final successfully concluded on Saturday 15 May in Varazdin bringing the Europe Cup 2020/21 season to a close following the safe and secure staging of the Women’s Final on 9 May in Novi Sad.

In the Men’s Final, France’s AS Pontoise Cergy clinched the title as they overcame Austria’s SPG Walter Wels 3:1. It is the third time the club has won the prestigious competition having previously won in 2016 and 2014. In the Women’s Final, France’s Saint-Denis Us 93 claimed their first ever title as they beat Hungary’s SH-ITB Budaörsi in a fantastic five-match thriller. The full results from Men’s competitions can be found here and Women’s here.

Both the Men’s and Women’s Finals were held in a secure bubble and strict COVID-19 health protocols were upheld throughout the competitions. All players and participants were regularly tested for COVID-19 and no positive cases were recorded in either competition. Given the Men’s Final has just concluded, the ETTU will continue to monitor over the coming days in order to confirm no positive cases arose after the competition ended while participants were still in Varazdin.

ETTU President Igor Levitin said:

“The Europe Cup Men’s and Women’s Finals were both fantastic events and we would like to congratulate all the participating teams for putting on such an exciting show for us all to enjoy. We would also like to thank the organisers in Varazdin and Novi Sad for providing a safe and secure environment in which our athletes could compete. As we all know, we are living in very challenging times but it is important that we continue to find ways to host our events safely for the benefit of our athletes and all our fans across Europe.”
