Anton KALLBERG: Sweden are in the hunt for an Olympic medal

Anton KALLBERG will play alongside the best ranked European player Mattias FALCK and Kristian KARLSSON in the Team’s Event this summer at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The Games will come on the back of what has been a very good season for the young player who has shone on the club scene.

“I think the biggest moment was when we [Borussia DĂĽsseldorf] won the Champions League title after two years without any success ” explained KALLBERG. “It showed us that it is possible and that we could dream of winning the triple again.”

Soon after all the excitement in the Bundesliga Anton moved to be with his teammates from Sweden.

“The preparation were very good. The Swedish team were preparing together for the Europeans Championships as well as for the Olympics ” he said.

The focus is now completely on national plans.

“I feel very excited to have gotten the chance to play and represent Sweden. I will do everything in my power to be in the best shape possible in Tokyo. It sure comes with some pressure and expectations but that is nothing you can escape. I just have to do my best to make sure I can live up to it. I have great teammates who are supporting me a lot and we get a lot of experience through having Jörgen PERSSON in the team.”

Sweden is always aiming high.

“Our goal is simply to win a medal. We have a strong team with a lot of potential and we know if we all perform at our best we’ve got a good chance.”

KALLBERG revealed he is true sport fan.

“Since I was small I have watched pretty much everything they show on TV and I still like to watch when there’s a lot of pressure and a lot on the line it doesn’t matter the sport.”

His love of all sport is confirmed by his choice for the biggest sporting achievement he’s seen at an Olympic Games:

“I don’t know if it counts as the biggest achievement but the first thing that pops up in my mind is Steven BRADBURY’S gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics. It shows that everything is possible in sports and I love that.”
