AGGELAKIS and ZAVITSANOU Greek champions for 2020

Konstantinos AGGELAKIS in Men’s and Georgia ZAVITSANOU in Women’s Singles Evnt are the champions of Greece for the 2019-2020 season. In the event hosted for the second year in a row by Chania Crete the 23-year-old player of Panathinaikos reached the most important title in his career after a total of 6 gold medals in junior and cadet’s singles. In the final he beat 4-1 the winner of 2018 and 2019 Konstantinos KONSTANTINOPOULOS.

 

ZAVITSANOU the player of AEK celebrated for the second time after 2016. Then and now she overcame in the final Christina FILI but yesterday it was a shocking finale (4-3 games). In the Men’s doubles the brothers George and Konstantinos KONSTANTINOPOULOS won the gold whilest in the Women’s doubles Katerina TOLIOU and Konstantina PARIDI from DAO Tavrou and Olympiacos respectively held the gold. With a total of 55 entries the National Championship of Greece was successfully organized at the Kladisos Municipal Indoor Gym. This year’s event was also dedicated to the memory of Pera Athens and a member of the administration of HTTF for many years Damon DAMIANIDIS.

 

AGGELAKIS is modern player with defensive skills and strong backhand. In the final after the first balanced games was applied to the left hand KONSTANTINOPOULOS (11-8 6-11 11-3 11-4 11-8).

 

The final in women’s singles was really exciting. In the beginning Zavitsanou was 0-2 down against 8 times Greek champion FILI. Subsequently she went ahead 3-2 then sh leveled again and secured 7th game. ZAVITSANOU came back with a 3-7 and 6-9 then saved three match balls and prevailed by narow margin (8-11 2-11 11-4 11-8 12-10 9-11 17-15).

 

In men’s doubles Giorgos and Konstantinos KONSTANTINOPOULOS captured the 4th title in last 5 years. In the final won Nikos ANTONIADIS/Dimitris PAPADIMITRIOU 3-1 games (11-4 9-11 11-3 15-13).

 

In women’s doubles PARIDI finished with third consecutive gold medal. Two of them with TOLIOU. In Chania they were winners in strong final against Ioanna GERASIMATOU/Georgia ZAVITSANOU 3-2 games (9-11 11-7 9-11 11-7 11-8).
