Linz and Saint Quentinois into semi-finals

2019/20 European Champions League Women

Former two-time ECLW champion Linz AG Froschberg eliminated 2017/18 Europe Cup winner Metz TT in the ECLW quarter-finals fourth time in last five years after 3:1 win in the second match held on home soil (French side won 1st leg 3:2). Best placed ECLW player on the ITTF World ranking list Sofia POLCANOVA paved the way to victory of Austrian club as she overcame both Daniela DODEAN-MONTEIRO and Carole GRUNDISCH in straight games.

Hong Kong’s SOO Wai Yam Minnie prevailed against Carole GRUNDISCH in the second encounter while Romanian rising star Adina DIACONU won sole point for guests defeating Margarita BALTUSHITE. Sofia POLCANOVA has improved her win-loss record to 9-2.

TT Saint Quentinois reached its historic first ECLW semi-finals after another victory over newcomer from Spain Girbau-Vic. Five weeks ago French side won 3:0 away while today’s second leg was finished by 3:1 in their favour.

Canada’s player ZHANG Mo secured two points for host team recording wins in straight games over Charlotte CAREY and Sofia-Xuan ZHANG. Russia’s Polina MIKHAILOVA has continued her winning streak (7-0) securing third point for Saint-Quentinois after full five games against Sofia-Xuan ZHANG.

Linz and Saint Quentinois will play against each other to decide one 2019/20 ECLW finalist. Other semi-final pair is composed by four-time ECLW winner TTC Berlin Eastside and reigning champion KTS Enea Siarka Tarnobrzeg.
