ZEN-NOH 2019 ITTF Team World Cup

In the first semi final of the Men’s Teams Event at the ZEN-NOH 2019 ITTF Team World Cup China will meet Japan. In Tokyo hosts beat Germany in the quarterfinal whilst China acconted for USA.

Japan the second seeds prevailed again Germany the next in line. Koki NIWA and Maharu YOSHIMURA had suffered at the hands of Timo BOLL and Patrick FRANZISKA but after that 16 year old Tomokazu HARIMOTO beat Dimitrij OVTCHAROV and in fourth match he overcame Patrick FRANZISKA. Maharu YOSHIMURA accounted for Timo BOLL in straight games.

“It was shocking that we lost to England in the group stage. It was good for us as it put us under pressure to perform well against Germany. I think we need the support that we got today and the support really motivated us to give our best” said HARIMOTO.

“We had a good draw in the group to beat Australia and Brazil easily but against Japan I think five percent of intensity was missing for us and the Japanese were well motivated to play well today. We were not at our peak and for us it is not a big deal. It is also good for us that before the Olympic Games we are playing against the best teams. I love the arena; this venue remind me of Beijing 2008 and it is good we are here to see it. We are familiar with Japan because we had played World Championships here. So we look forward to coming back to this venue again and give our best” stated OVTCHAROV.

In other two quarterfinals Republic of Korea meets Brazil and England will face Chinese Taipei.
