Rares SIPOS on fire in Portugal’s Vila Real

European Youth Top 10

Rares SIPOS of Romania played like a man on mission in three opening rounds of the Junior Boys Event at the European Youth Top 10 in Portugal’s Vila Real. He stared the day with the impressive win over his compatriot and runner up at the Boys Singles Event at the European Youth Championships Cristian PLETEA and continued with the wins over Jules ROLLAND of France and Tiago LI of Portugal.

“I didn’t know what to expect. I just had my mind set because last year I had a terrible tournament despite the fact that I came well prepared. I didn’t know what to hope for and yes it was a great day but there are still six matches ahead and it’s a long way to go.

It will be very hard to bring the trophy again to Romania here we have the best players in Europe ” said Rares.

It was difficult to play against teammate.

“I played very good against Cristian and I’m happy that I won and sad for him but only one player can win. I can’t say that I’m going to clinch the title it’s too early and I’m not the only one with just wins and there are too many dangerous players seeking to win here.”

There are two more unbeaten players. Irvin BERTRAND of France overcame his compatriot Jules ROLLAND Tiago LI of Portugal and Laurens DEVOS of Belgium. Matteo MUTTI of Italy beat Tiago LI Laurens DEVOS and Kay STUMPER of Germany.
