ECWL: Metz Etival and Sporting into the quarter-finals

Actual ETTU Cup Women champion Metz TT and two ECLW debutants Etival Clairfontaine and Sporting Clube de Portugal have booked their places for the knockout phase of the 2018/19 European Champions League Women after Round 6 games. They joined reigning ECLW champion Dr. CASL four-time winner TTC Berlin Eastside two-time champion Linz AG Froschberg two-time runner-up Zamek Tarnobrzeg and SKST Mart Hodonin-Stavoimpex.

 

Metz showed its best face against the 2013 ECLW runner-up Budaorsi leaving them only two games. DING Yaping beat Maria FAZEKAS in four games and Adina DIACONU did the same in her clash with Szandra PERGEL. Carole GRUNDISCH has confirmed Metz’s victory as she overcame Merzedesz NAGYVARADI in straight games.

 

Thanks to 3:1 away win on October 27th Etival Clairefontaine had a big advantage before the conluding match against same opponent UCAM Cartagena. This time French club won 3:2 after many turning points. Spanish side led 2:1 thanks to Silvia ERDELYI DE SOUZA who reversed the score from 1-2 to 3-2 against Maria DOLGIKH. It was long and hard battle between two strong defensive players. SHAO Jieni and Hana MATELOVA provided last two points for Etival as they beat Maria XIAO and Viktoria LEBEDEVA respectively. 

 

Sporting and Saint Quentinois showed another fantastic battle for the ECLW quarter-finals and Portugal’s team again won after full five matches. ZHANG Mo played her best table tennis winning two games but guests responded by good team work as Daniela MONTEIRO DODEAN Zhenqi BARTHEL APOLONIA and LI Fen took one point each.

 

Natalia PARTYKA has paved the way to Mart Hodonin’s victory against LZ Linz Froschberg 3:1. Poland’s player beat Ines DIENDORFER and WU Yue while Marketa SEVCIKOVA has provided third point against Selina LEITNER. Czech side earlier secured its spot in the knockout phase.
