An upbeat Walter RÖNMARK and it was the same response from Hans WESTLING, the Chairman of the World Veterans Committee, one of the creators of the event, he wished the organizers good luck and also hoped that all the participants would have an enjoyable week in Stockholm. However, the greatest applause during the Opening ceremony was afforded to Jan-Ove WALDNER and Mikael APPELGREN, which although they have both reached veteran age, showed their skills at the table to the crowd’s delight. In fact Mikael APPELGREN will play in the tournament; he is one of the favourites in the Men’s Over 50 Class. An incredible 3316 players are ready to complete in what eventually will be some 13,000 matches; 133 table tennis tables are in place in the three halls.
