Three weeks ago in Linz no. 1 seed won 3:2 thus Fenerbahce`s manager Gurhan YALDIZ fulfilled what he promised: that his side will ended up the 2014/15 season with a perfect 10:0 score! Linz expected to play close game and wait for its chance but its plan went to bad direction when LIU Jia lost from Elisabeta SAMARA in the third encounter. Before that game rivals were leveled. JIA Wen who was host`s no. 1 this time instead WU Yang did the same thing as her compatriot three weeks ago winning two matches. She overcame Iveta IVANCAN in the opening game and LI Xiaodan in the latest one playing four games both times. LI Xiaodan managed to beat again Irene IVANCAN to keep her side on the right course. But Elisabeta SAMARA secured maybe crucial point against the 2005 individual European champion LIU Jia who got both Linz`s WECL title (2009 2013). There were many upside downs in the first four sets while the host was unstoppable in the fifth game. Finally JIA overcame LI in the match which closed the 2014/15 season. It could say that the only significant difference was that the best ranked MECL player OVTCHAROV did his job much easier than in first leg. It should be recalled that he saved four match balls in two encounters in Austria. OVTCHAROV still leads in the league with 12-1 individual score. Fenerbahce is convinced that 3:2 victory should be enough for its very first title whilst Linz AG Froschberg believes that their players are still capable to rewrite WECL history becoming the very first club crowned three times. However everything will be clear after the final showdown in Istanbul this Saturday (12h00 CET live and free on LAOLA1.tv). “I think we have big advantage for the second match we are closer to the trophy now but of course it will be very difficult match as the first leg. My players should forget first match and fight as they did in Linz. We can`t think about first leg result and calculate in our home game because otherwise we will lose our concentration” speaks Fenerbahce`s manager Gurhan YALDIZ. Linz`s President Gunther RENNER recalled on some good memories in the WECL when his side managed to compensate 3:2 defeat from the 1st final leg. “We hope that the good result from the home game helps us. We could reach our first WECL title after losing 2009 the home match against Kroppach with 2:3. We are not frightened before the game because we know that the result will be skin-tight at the end. We need a good day and a strong performance but we trust in our players they can deliver extraordinary performances on days like next Saturday. It`s the Final the pressure has left our players because the home game was a success for the whole Club. We can only win now and Fenerbahce has the same duty to win like we had against Budaörsi Budapest in 2013. We know how hard it is to have an easy walk over”. YALDIZ is aware that the big pressure could be a major setback for the host team but he has no doubt that his girls are able to outstrip Froschberg. His team had bad memories from the last season`s final when they surprisingly lost from Berlin although they were no. 1 seed and big favorite for the title. “Of course we have serious risk because we will play in our hall and with our spectators and together with all table tennis world. That’s why we`ll be little under the stress and pressure. This time we are very close to win and we do not want to lose this Cup one more time. Good luck to both teams”. Linz`s players had no solution for world`s no. 7 WU Yang in the first match. Chinese won both her encounters in straight games. “It will be tough but everything will be decided mentally it`s hard to say who can have advantages in the game but Fenerbahce will be shaky if we gain the lead in the game.” explained LIU Jia who took both Froschberg`s WECL titles (2009 2013). The Coach of Austrian side BIAN Ya Dong no feels pressure at all: “We already reached our season goal but we want to win in Istanbul”. The two top seeds have clear advantages from away games but this Friday and Saturday they need to confirm it: Fakel Gazproma Orenburg – Wienviertel Niederosterreich (April 3rd 13h20 CET 1st match 3:1) Borussia Dusseldorf – Chartres ASTT (April 4th 13h00 CET 1st leg 3:1). After Asian Cup some Asian players will be again available for their European clubs including Chartres`s main weapon GAO Ning. “Timo was our match winner in the first game with two victories. But as important as Timo BOLL`s successful matches was the victory of Patrick (FRANZISKA) in the premier act against Robert GARDOS” said Borussia`s Coach Danny HEISTER who stressed that “3:1 in the away match in Chartres is a very good result: „So we are in a good position to reach the final. On Saturday Chartres will be stronger with its No. 1 GAO Ning. We have to be focused and play our best table tennis again to beat Chartres or to win at least two singles. It will be a tough game again.” Borussia`s Manager Andreas PREUSS says that “3:1 looks clear and safe…But we won all our singles very very close. We could have lost the first game in Chartres 0:3 too! Sure the chance to go to the final is high now. So we will fight for every set for every ball. By the way I count on our fans in the sold out ARAG CenterCourt. They will support us and they will push us if it’s getting close. We will enjoy the great atmosphere in the hall.” Patrick FRANZISKA did a good job in Chartres beating Robert GARDOS in the opening game 3:2. The youngest Borussia`s player believes that his side has the open way to the final: “The advantage is on our side after our important and successful game in Chartres. I think we have been stronger in the decisive moments. So I hope that we can do it once again to reach the final. That’s our huge goal! We will fight for it.” Top seeded Orenburg beat Niederosterreich 3:1 playing 1st game in Austria. As both sides already mentioned the Russian champion is clear favorite in the returning clash. But the final outcome will depend for sure on it how HOU Yingchao will play against Dimitrij OVTCHAROV and Vladimir SAMSONOV.
