2015 World Junior Championships in La Roche sur Yon The 2015 World Junior Championships which commences in La Roche sur Yon France tomorrow gathered 20 teams in Junior Boys and 19 in Junior Girls Team Events. Top seeded in both categories is China whilst France is the best seeded European team. In Boys category they are at the position no. four and in Girls category no. three. Boys from Sweden are just one place above; whilst in Girls category Romania follows hosts closely at position no. four. We can expect very close battle between the best European teams. In the final of the Boys’ Team event at the European Youth Championships the French trio formed by Alexandre CASSIN Can AKKUZU and Joe SEYFRIED recorded a three matches to one success in the final against the Swedish trio of Anton KÄLLBERG Malte MOREGARDH and Simon SODERLUND. In fact it is a feat that has not been achieved in the counterpart Boys’ Singles event; if she can succeed in La Roche sur Yon when play in the eight day tournament concludes on Sunday 6th December she will have her own special place in the annals of sport. Honorary membership for Jeanny DOM
ETTU President Ronald KRAMER presented the certificate and the golden pin that belong to the Honorary Membership to former ETTU Secretary General in Luxembourg today November 27th. During ETTU ‘s Congress on September 30th in Ekaterinburg Ms DOM was appointed Honorary Member of ETTU during the Congress for her long outstanding and meritorious service for ETTU and European table tennis. Jeanny DOM could not be present at the Congress and the draw for the qualification for the 2017 European Championships in Luxembourg was seen a nice moment to meet. ETTU President Ronald KRAMER stated after today’s ceremony: “Our Congress accepted by acclamation the nomination of Ms. Jeanny DOM for the ETTU Honorary Membership and I am pleased that we have found this opportunity to present the diploma and the pin to Jeanny today in Luxembourg.” Jeanny DOM is four times Luxembourg Champion seven times Sportswoman of the year; in the period between 1987 and 1993 she was Secretary in Luxembourg TTF; in the period between 1993 and 1995 she was ETTU Secretary and from 1995 to 2013 ETTU Secretary General.

Denmark and Hungary are good Teams with also strong and dangerous players. It will not be easy but our goal is first place in the Group.” The nation that holds position no. two at the seeding Germany will play against Serbia and Switzerland. DTTB Sports Director Richard PRAUSE did not want to underestimate the future adversaries. “We shall not underestimate Serbia. The team has three equally strong players. After recovering from the injury Aleksandar KARAKASEVIC is back to his old shape. Against Serbia we have to be much focused.” Switzerland has worked hard year after year. The team currently occupies position no. 42 of the ITTF World Team Ranking. Young hope is the 19-year-old European-Games participant of 2014 Elia SCHMID. “With a good junior-high performance sports concept the Swiss try and bring their young players to a higher level. The 2014 TTCLM winner beat at home Werder Bremen 3:1 in the Round 4 of Group C Champions of TTCLM in the 2013/14 season significantly improved their chances for the 2015/16 quarter-final as they beat at home the 2013 Bundesliga champion: AS Pontoise Cergy – SV Werder Bremen 3:1. In the first match between these two rivals German side won 3:2 so now both teams have 2-2 score. As many times before Marcos FREITAS did the main job in his team. Tonight he beat both Constantin CIOTI and Bastian STEGER while the third Pontoise`s point secured Kristian KARLSSON. Portuguese first defeated CIOTI in straight games. Then Swede prevailed against former individual bronze medalist from European Championships Bastian STEGER. Host lost the first gem missing one set ball but after that took three sets in a row. After the unexpectedly huge success of the table tennis gala last year in Budapest – the appearance of Jörgen Persson Mikael Appelgren and the long-ago Hungarian golden team István Jónyer Tibor Klampár Gábor Gergely – it was obvious that we would carry on this year.
