2016 Slovenia Junior & Cadet Open The matches in Team’s Events at the 2016 Slovenia Junior & Cadet Open concluded today. In both Junior Boys and Girls Teams Event Japan clinched the top prize. In Boys category it was Japan’s Yu KAYAMA Aoto ASAZU and Takeru KASHIVA whilst in Girls category Kana TAKEUCHI and Yuko KATO succeeded with the help of USA’s Amy WANG. Japan beat combined team of Taipei and USA in full distance match to clinch the title. In semi final they prevailed against Cedric MEISSNER Istvan MOLNAR and Patrick JUHASZ from team composed of Hungary’s and German’s players. Germany with Jannik HU Fanbo MENG and Alexander GERHOLD also clinched bronze. In Junior Girls Team’s Event Japan – USA overcame Taipei – Hungary’s team with SU Pei Ling WEN Ruei Ling and Korda KITTI in the final. Croatia’s Klara CAKOL Andrea PAVLOVIC and Leona SANTEK won bronze as well as Germany’s Janina KAMMERER Jennie WOLF and Caroline HAJOK. In Cadet Boys Teams Event Germany’s Danile RINDERER and Kay STUMPER beat USA’s Gal ALGUETTI and Sharon ALGUETTI in the final. Croatia won two bronze medals. Ivor BAN Lovro ZOVKO and Filip BOROVNJAK lost in the semi final against Germany whilst USA beat Leo VEKIC and Gustavo CASTILLO from Chile -Croatia team. France’s Cloe CHOMIS Celia SILVA and Prithika PAVADE won gold in Cadet Girls Team’s Event. They overcame Germany’s Anastasia BONDAREVA and Sophia KLEE at the final hurdle. Bronze went to Slovenia with Lea PAULIN Lara OPEKA and Katarina STRAZAR and Lucia CORDERO from Guatemala and Agata PASZEK from Poland.

2016 ITTF World Tour Belgium Open (Challenge) in De Haan Seeded at the positions no. 15 and 32 Cedric NUYTINCK and Florent LAMBIET booked their places in the Round of 16 of the Men’s Singles Event at the 2016 ITTF World Tour Belgium Open (Challenge) in De Haan at the delight of the home crowd. They joined top seeded Omar ASSAR of Egypt and Germany’s Steffen MENGEL after the first day of the play in the main draw of the event. In Round of 32 NUYTINCK beat Swede Viktor BRODD 1-4 (4-11 4-11 10-12 13-11 7-11) whilst LAMBIET succeeded against Germany’s Dennis KLEIN by same margin (9-11 8-11 7-11 11-7 9-11). However it was not a very bad day for Sweden. Harald ANDERSSON no 21 seed beat Ricardo WALTHER in straight games (11-4 11-6 11-7 11-7). German player seeded at position no. 5 was the highest player on duty to suffer the defeat in second round. Previously no 4 seed Cazuo MATSUMOTO of Brazil lost against KLEIN. Vasily LAKEEV of Russia no 10 seed is also out. He lost against Laurens TROMER of Netherlands. TROMER was required to play in qualifications to reach the main draw. Top seeds in Women’s Singles Event are also safely through to the third round. Hitomi SATO of Japan overcame Lucie GAUTHIER of France in straight games (11-7 11-3 11-7 11-7) whilst Romania’s Elizabeta SAMARA beat Rahel ASCHWANDEN of Switzerland (6-11 14-16 4-11 4-11). The draw for round 2 of the ETTU Cup Men The draw for round 2 of the ETTU Cup Men has been done today by the ETTU Ranking Committee Chair Igor HELLER and the Deputy Secretary General Pierre KASS. In Group A the host will be Dutch Enjoy & Deploy Taverzo. In Netherlands will play Russia’s TTC Kazan Italy’s A.S.D. Marcozzi Cagliari and Romania’s CS Mioveni. In Group B the host is SF SKK EL Nino Praha from Czech Republic. They will face the opposition from Spanish Irun Leka Enea Belgium’s TT Vedrinamur and Croatia’s STK Starr Varazdin. Croatia’s STK Libertas Marinkolor will host Israel’s Yironi Givatayim Slovakia’s SK Vydrany and Turkey’s Istanbul BBSK. In Group D SPG Linz will welcom Spanish Cajasur Priego TM Belgium’s TTC Sokah Hoboken and Scotland’s Knightswood Table Tennis in Austria. In each Group the team ranked on position one or two will be qualified for the third round (25 – 27 November 2016).
ETTU Cup Men: Two Belgian clubs go to 2nd stage
TTC Sokah Hoboken and TT Vedrinamur finished on the top of Group C and D respectively. SK Vydrany CS Mioveni ASD Marcozzi Istanbul BBSK STK Starr Varaždin and Knightswood TTC also in the 2nd stage First stage of the ETTU Cup Men with 16 clubs from 10 countries was finished as two Belgian clubs booked their places for the 2nd stage creating a perfect 3-0 record. TTC Sokah Hoboken and TT Vedrinamur finished on the top of Group C and D respectively. Other six clubs which passed successfully first exam in the new season are: SK Vydrany (Slovakia) CS Mioveni (Romania) ASD Marcozzi (Italy) Istanbul BBSK (Turkey) STK Starr Varaždin (Croatia) and Knightswood TTC (Scotland). In the Group A hosted by DT Diddeleng from Luxembourg SK Vydrany (3-0) reached the top spot followed by CS Mioveni (2-1). Host finished third (1-2) and Spanish CTT CER ESCALA fourth (0-3). SK Vydrany`s Samuel NOVOTA was the best player at the tournament with 5-0 score. Host of the Group B ASD Marcozzi won all its games (3-0) followed by Turkey’s Istanbul BBSK (2-1) Spanish GD Toledos (1-2) and Luxembourg’s DT Recken (0-3). Italian side showed a good team work while Philippe SAIVE (individual 3-0 score) couldn’t help DT Recken to avoid the last place. Group C brought most thrilling contest as three clubs from 2nd to 4th place came out with 1-2 score. But host STK Starr Varaždin from Croatia finished second according to the highest set-ratio. Belgium’s TTC Sokah Hoboken was unbeaten while Turk Telekom Ankara Spor Kulubu and Portugal’s G.D. do Centro Social do Juncal won one match each. The same ending happened in the Group D with one dominant side Belgium’s TT Vedrinamur led by its youngster Thibaut DARCIS and three equal Scotland’s Knightswood TTC Turkey’s Sistem Reklam SC and Spanish Colina Clinic Burgos Colina Clinic Burgos (all three 1-2). Knightswood TTC got second spot thanks to the highest set-ratio (4-3). Second stage will be held on October 29-30th as eight clubs await their opponents qualified through Round 1. Two best placed teams from each group will reach stage no. 3.
19-year-old FAN shocks Olympic champion MA to win China Open
FAN Zhendong (CHN) has done what not many men have ever done defeating the Olympic champion MA Long (CHN) to win the 2016 ITTF World Tour Shesays China Open today 18 September 2016 in Chengdu China MA Long who is the world number one and holds every major table tennis title including the Rio 2016 title last month was out to win his 23rd ITTF World Tour title and everyone was confident that was going to happen based on his unbeatable form that he showed the past 18 months. The 2014 Youth Olympic Games champion FAN Zhendong had other ideas as he sensationally defeated the unbeatable MA Long 11-9 13-11 11-8 11-5 in a match which was unpredictably one sided. After the match a jubilant FAN Zhendong stated: “MA Long is a very strong opponent I learned a lot from him in training and in competitions. I am really happy to win such a big title against MA who is the best player in the world. Tomorrow we will head for Anshan for National Championship and then to Germany for Men’s World Cup! Very lucky I can attend the Men’s World Cup after the late withdrawal by Jun MIZUTANI (JPN).” The Women’s Singles final was a repeat of the epic 2015 World Championships encounter between DING Ning (CHN) and LIU Shiwen (CHN). Just like that fateful night in Suzhou DING Ning prevailed the China Open trophy to add to her Rio 2016 gold she won last month. The world number two controlled the match and never seemed in doubt defeating the world number one: 11-6 8-11 11-4 10-12 12-10 11-8. After her victory the 26-year-old Olympic Champion stated: “Thanks for the fans’ support they have been really nice here. Recently I have not had too much systematic training since Rio 2016 so I am very happy to be the champion here. The final match against my friend LIU Shiwen was amazing.” They were rivals in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games singles final but today ZHANG Jike & MA Long teamed up to win the Men’s Doubles title. The pair who are good friends off the table triumphed over their national team mates XU Xin & FAN Zhendong 11-8 5-11 4-11 11-9 11-5 in a thrilling match. The duo that contested the Women’s Singles final LIU Shiwen & DING Ning were upset in the Women’s Doubles final by their compatriots ZHU Yuling & CHEN Meng. The unheralded duo were too good in the final triumphing 4-11 11- 11-9 11-5 to clinch the title. On Friday HO Kwan Kit (HKG) and ZENG Jian (SIN) became the Men’s and Women’s under-21 Champions respectively. The next stop on the 2016 ITTF World Tour is the Belgium Open in De Haan which begins on 20 September 2016.

Fabien LAMIRAULT and Stephane MOLLIENS from France beat Korea 2:1 in the final of Men`s Team Classes 1-2 Natalia PARTYKA`s Poland beat defending champion China 2:1 in the gold medal contest of Women’s Team Classes 6-10. China led after opening doubles match but PARTYKA leveled against YANG Qian in straight games. Finally Karolina PEK defeated LEI Lina in four sets to secure gold medal for her side. Natalia PARTYKA and Karolina PEK won bronze medal four years ago in London. Brazil now finished third on the podium after 2:0 win against Australia Men`s Classes 1-2 The 2012 London runner-up of Men’s Team Class 1-2 France is newly crowned Paralympic champion. Fabien LAMIRAULT and Stephane MOLLIENS beat in the final Korea 2:1 as MOLLIENS overcame CHA Soo Yong in the decisive third encounter. Four years ago golden team of Classes 1-2 Czech Republic now finished fourth as they lost to Brazil 2:1. Viktor DIDUKH Mykhaylo POPOV and Maxym NIKOLENKO lost in the opening round at the London 2012 Paralympics but this time they beat Sweden 2:0 in the final clash Ukraine`s Viktor DIDUKH Mykhaylo POPOV and Maxym NIKOLENKO have surpassed all expectations winning gold of the Men`s Team Classes 6-8 at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Four years ago they were beaten by Poland 3:0 in the opening round of London 2012 Paralympics but this time overcame Sweden`s Linus KARLSSON and Emil ANDERSSON in the final clash 2:0. Great Britain finished on the third spot beating China 2:1. This is the second consecutive bronze for William John BAYLEY Ross WILSON and Aaron MCKIBBIN. Men`s Team Class 3 As four years ago the winner of the Men`s Team Class 3 will be decided between the 2012 London Paralympics runner-up Germany`s Thomas BRUCHLE and Thomas SCHMIDBERGER and defending champion ZHAO Ping FENG Panfeng and ZHAI Xiang from China. The Swedish Table Tennis Association is looking National Team Coach responsible for female senior junior and cadet players and National Team Coach responsible for senior male players. “Swedish table tennis has a long lasting tradition. We are currently in the middle of an exciting period of sporting successes an increase in the number of our members and our finances are very sound. We have new sponsors who like us see many opportunities for the future. Are you interested in joining us on this journey? We are looking for two National Team Coaches who will participate in lifting Swedish table tennis to an even higher level. One of the National Team Coaches will be responsible for the men’s aspect while the other Captain will be responsible for the women’s aspect encompassing the junior to the cadet ages of females. You will have a central part in the development of Swedish table tennis especially when it comes to the World Championships in Halmstad Sweden in 2018 which is going to be a significant and unique “showpiece” for our sport. The positions will make demands on the development-oriented and structural work involved in achieving our set aims. You will be working in close cooperation with other work colleagues within the Swedish Association. Qualifications required We are looking for people who are natural leaders who can take on responsibility while at the same time are able to work in groups with colleagues from the Swedish Team and Club Trainers. As a National Coach your work duties will be many and varied. We assume that you have documents to support your experience as a leader/trainer on a national team level. You must be accustomed to working with thorough long-term planning and to having had experience with planning and budgeting. Being successful in the role of National Team Coach requires a very good ability to collaborate and communicate in a clear and respectful manner both verbally and in writing. The positions The appointments involve a four year contract with an evaluation after two years and the possibility for either party to terminate the contract at that time. The position of National Team Coach involves the planning of activities together with the National Team Coordinator. It also entails attending on-going meetings with various National Team Leaders and the network that you will have in Swedish Table Tennis. Among other things the position involves: Running current activities of the National Team and working with the development of players. Being responsible for training camps international competitions and international matches. Taking on the responsibility of admissions manager. Staying in contact with the home trainers of national team players and making frequent visits to clubs. Ensuring that ambitious coaches are given the opportunity to develop themselves by participating in duties on the national team level.You must follow the structures of Association meetings and report to the Secretary General of the Association. Rio Paralympics: Ukraine and Sweden in the battle for the Men`s Classes 6-8 gold
Four years ago Ukraine lost in the opening round while Sweden ended its participation in the quarter-final Ukraine lost in the opening round of 2012 London Paralympics Sweden was eliminated in the Round 1 than but now they will play in the final of Men`s Team Classes 6-8 at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. They beat Great Britain and China respectively. Men`s Team Classes 1-2 The 2012 London Paralympics runner-up of Men`s Team Class 1-2 France reached its new final in Rio. They beat host side Brazil 2:0 to set final showdown with Korea bronze medalist four years ago which now managed to eliminate defending champion Czech Republic. Men`s Team Classes 4-5 Four years ago runner-up Korea defeated reigning champion China 2:1 to secure final clash with Taipei which beat Turkey 2:0. Women`s Team Classes 1-3 Defending champion China and Croatia will play for the crown in the Women`s Team Classes 1-3 both after 2:0 wins. Italia and Korea are playing one against another to decide who will leave Brazil with a bronze medal. Women`s Team Classes 4-5 Nada MATIC provided the winning point for Serbia in the semi final clash against Sweden 2:1. She beat Ingela LUNDBAECK in straight games. Other finalist is the defending champion China which had an easy job against Korea. Women`s Team Classes 6-10 Favorites confirmed their quality in the semi-final duels of Women`s Team Class 6-10: China – Australia 2:0 Poland – Brazil 2:0. Natalia PARTYKA`s Poland is determined to take the gold after bronze medal taken in London four years ago.
