National Referee Course and Exam in Oslo
The European Table Tennis Union together with the Norwegian Table Tennis Association invites 15 umpires/referees to a National Referee Course and exam. The course will cover all aspects of refereeing and will contain practical and theoretical training including overnight assignments. The course will conclude with a written exam and interview. Candidates that pass the exam/interview will receive a certificate. Candidates need to have the Basic Referee level or the basic level under the national refereeing education process for at least 1 year be Qualified National Umpire for at least 1 year and have proven referee experience at least at a provincial or national level. For NTTA the scope of the course is to start a new and improved national referee education based on the ITTF certified national referee course. The Norwegian candidates are expected to take part in the development and launch of this education. The course will for this reason have a ‘train the trainers’ approach and address how to build up a national education. The course will start Thursday 24.august at 10:30 and conclude Sunday 27.august at 15:00. Only nominations submitted by bona fide national associations will be considered. Borussia sees its chances against Orenburg
„This will be the biggest challenge this season” stressed Borussia`s manager Andreas PREUSS speaking about upcoming TTCLM final (1st leg 4-7th May) Borussia Dusseldorf won two important home games in just three days from last Friday do Sunday. First they booked their place in the 2016/17 TTCLM final then they beat FC Saarbrucken 3:1 in the first semi-final leg of Bundesliga. After two good matches against reigning TTCLM champion Pontoise (3:0 away 3:1 at home) everyone in Borussia`s staff is satisfied. Returning game was decided after the opening match when former Pontoise`s Kristian KARLSSON overcame his compatriot Mattias KARLSSON. “I’m very glad I could win this game. We were faced with a really tough task in spite of having big advantage because Pontoise has a good team that does not give up” pointed out Kristian KARLSSON speaking for Borussia`s website. Coach Danny HEISTER explained that his side “had a lot of respect for the game” while manager Andreas PREUSS turned his attention to the upcoming TTCLM final against Orenburg: “This will be the biggest challenge this season! Orenburg is currently considered as clear favorite but they must confirm that against us. I believe in our chance”. KARLSSON agrees with PREUSS: “We have a chance. Sure we are the outsiders but Orenburg has a lot of pressure. We are capable to do this.” German club will play its 5th TTCLM final in the last nine seasons but there is no title since they defeated Fakel Gazprom Orenburg in 2010/11. Russian giant will be once again their rival for the biggest prize in European club’s table tennis. Actual score in the final clashes are 1:1. Borussia won the title in 2010/11 while Russian club was better in 2014/15.

European Championships Qualification Division Play off matches The 2017 European Championships Qualification Division Play off matches will be played tomorrow across the Europe. Ten teams both in Men’s and Women’s Events will fight for five places in Championships Division at the European Team’s Championships this fall. In England spectators will have the opportunity to enjoy the double program. Men will play against Slovakia and Women will meet Spain in Preston. Further in Men’s play off matches Italy will host Ukraine Russia will host Serbia in Moscow Czech Republic will play against Poland in Klatovy and Belarus will travel to Budapest to play against Hungary. In Women’s Event Turkey awaits Netherlands in Istanbul Belarus will meet Wales in Minsk Sweden will meet Slovakia in Koping and Serbia will host Croatia in Novi Sad. Matches in Hungary and Belarus are scheduled for today whilst Turkey will play on April 25th. The second leg will be played next Tuesday.

Women’s ETTU Cup After the all-French final in Men’s ETTU Cup we have the one nation final in Women’s Event. Turkey also secured their place in the history list in Women’s ETTU Cup one round before the end of the competition. Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor and Tigem SC Ankara both progressed to the ultimate round of the competition. Unlike the opening leg when Turkish team was forced to go full distance Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor was more impressive on home soil against French CP Lyssois Lille Metropole. HU Melek won both matches and Alexandra PRIVALOVA joined her with another 3:0 victory. Only young Simay KULAKECEKEN lost her encounter but it did not halted their progress to the final. In Russia TTC Kazan stretched Tigem SC Ankara to full distance but like one leg earlier they were not able to produce the victory. Men’s ETTU Cup Stella Sport La Romagne justified their victory in the opening leg of the Men’s ETTU Cup semifinal. Unlike first leg in March when they succeeded in straight matches in Russia French club needed one more. Andrej GACINA was the only player to score for guests. He beat WEI Shiaho. However WEI recovered enough to seal the victory in the fourth match against Alexander SHIBAEV. SHIBAEV also suffered by the hands of CHEN Tianyuan. KORBEL won the first edition of World Minipingpong Festival in Ostrava
One of the festival’s ambassadors Petr KORBEL won the premiere edition of World Minipingpong Festival in Ostrava. KORBEL defeated Josef PLACHÝ in the final the third place was won by Daniel UNZEITIG. Adam Bakota and Pavel KLEMENT triumphed in doubles. Hana MATĚJOVÁ (despite her young age) won the price for the most succesfull woman by getting to the quarterfinals. The trophy for the best player under 18 years of age belongs to Tomáš STEMPAK and the winner of thursday’s school tournament was Gymnázium T. G. Masaryka from Frýdlant nad Ostravicí. The unique project of the Czech Table Tennis Association was held in an industrial building Trojhalí Karolina in Ostrava at the end of last week. About 500 people enjoyed playing table tennis in Trojhalí and during all the tournaments 664 matches has been played. The tournament was attended by the general public as well as the professional players like ambassador of the festival Iveta VACENOSKÁ legendary Czech table tennis player and current national coach Jindřich PANSKÝ or Paralympic champion Ivan KARABEC. Berlin won 3:0 but all three matches have been decided after full five games. Moreover Froschberg`s players led 2:1 in each encounter. Last year ECLW record holder from Germany eliminated Linz after 3:2 3:1 wins. Berlin`s key player in the first leg SHAN Xiaona faced more problems than she expected in the opener against ZHANG Mo.
