Emmanuel KOLYMPADIS leads Greek Federation for another four years
Emmanuel KOLYMPADIS will be the chair of Greek Table Tennis Federation for four more years. It is the outcome of the elections that took place last Saturday in Athens. Emmanuel KOLYMBADIS was re-elected and for the third time since October 2008 he will be the main person in charge in Greek Federation management. The club-members of H.T.T.F. renewed the trust in the person of KOLIMPADIS and his colleagues and expects from the administration to continue with the same passion the extremely difficult task to keep the sport strong in times of economic crisis. “I am very touched. I feel blessed. The large family of Greek table tennis with an incredible unanimity and unity made to my colleagues and to me the great honor to put us in another 4 years at the head of the sport. Thanks everyone who attended the elections for their love and trust. I promise that I will try with my associates to move our sport forward and higher. For me personally I’m happy as I was when I was elected for the first time. I thank them all from my heart” said the chairman of the board. 2016 Slovenia Junior & Cadet Open – ITTF Junior Circuit The top seeded Darko JORGIC justifed his status and delighted the home crowd by wining the crown in Junior Boys Singles Event at the 2016 Slovenia Junior & Cadet Open – ITTF Junior Circuit in Otocec. In the final he overcame Yu KAYAMA of Japan in five games (12-10 11-9 7-11 11-7 11-3). In semis Slovenia’s player beat LI Hsin-Yang of Taipei (12-10 11-5 8-11 11-3 11-1). Japan’s Yuko KATO beat Amy WANG of USA in the final of the Junior Girls Singles Event (15-13 7-11 10-12 6-11 8-11). Previously WANG halted the progress of Andrea PAVLOVIC of Croatoa (12-10 8-11 11-4 13-11 10-12 11-7). KATO beat Jamila LAURENTI of Italy (11-9 7-11 11-3 6-11 12-14 9-11). FENG Yi-Hsin of Taipe clinched the crown in the Cadet Boys Singles Event. He beat Victor LIU of USA in the final (11-5 11-13 6-11 9-11). In the penultimate stage LIU overcame Takeru KASHIWA of Japan (11-7 10-12 9-11 11-5 10-12) whilst FENG beat Sharon ALGUETTI of USA (9-11 11-8 7-11 11-13). The title in Cadet Girls Singles Event went to USA. Amy WANG beat Celia SILVA of France in the final (11-13 11-6 11-8 11-5). Romania prepares the spectacular opening match in the EC Qualifications
European Championships Qualification Team Events The match between Austria and Kosovo three days ago opened the European Championships Qualification Team Events before the official start. The official kick off in 10 groups in men’s and women’s Championships Divisions will be on Tuesday. Only one match the clash between the teams ranked at the top position and in the place no. three in their respective groups will be played on 27th. In every group there are three teams and they will play against each other in two matches (home and away). Ten group winners will qualify for the Championships division. The teams who finished the opening stage at poistion no. three in their respective groups will qualify for the Challenge division. Ten teams at position no. two will drawn into five play off matches. Five play off winners will qualify for the Championships division. For the opening round the match between Romania and Greece will be arranged in unusual manner. Romanian Federation announced that the match will be broadcasted live by national television and it will be played inside one of the main studios of RTV. Cedric NUYTINCK clinched silver on home soil
2016 Belgium Open Sathiyan GNANASEKARAN of India inflicted the pain in the hart of the host nation’s supporters by beating Cedric NUYTINCK at the final hurdle in the Men’s Singles Event at the 2016 Belgium Open in De Haan. Seeded no. 25 succeeded to the gold in straight matches (13-15 6-11 2-11 15-17) against the player who occupies seeded position no. 15. At the penultimate stage NUYTINCK beat Germany’s Benedikt DUDA in thrilling seven games match (11-7 1-11 11-13 12-10 11-8 11-13 12-10); GNANASEKARAN overcame Swede Harald ANDERSSON in another full distance thriller (10-12 11-8 1-11 11-4 8-11 11-9 6-11). Georgina POTA of Hungary no four seed beat no. three seed Yui HAMAMOTO of Japan (11-9 12-14 11-9 11-7 11-9). Previously POTA beat Romania’s Bernadette SZOCS in five games (7-11 10-12 8-11 11-6 3-11). The Russian pairing have looked in unbeatable form in De Haan and came through the event without dropping a game across their four matches. 2016 Slovenia Junior & Cadet Open The matches in Team’s Events at the 2016 Slovenia Junior & Cadet Open concluded today. In both Junior Boys and Girls Teams Event Japan clinched the top prize. In Boys category it was Japan’s Yu KAYAMA Aoto ASAZU and Takeru KASHIVA whilst in Girls category Kana TAKEUCHI and Yuko KATO succeeded with the help of USA’s Amy WANG. Japan beat combined team of Taipei and USA in full distance match to clinch the title. In semi final they prevailed against Cedric MEISSNER Istvan MOLNAR and Patrick JUHASZ from team composed of Hungary’s and German’s players. Germany with Jannik HU Fanbo MENG and Alexander GERHOLD also clinched bronze. In Junior Girls Team’s Event Japan – USA overcame Taipei – Hungary’s team with SU Pei Ling WEN Ruei Ling and Korda KITTI in the final. Croatia’s Klara CAKOL Andrea PAVLOVIC and Leona SANTEK won bronze as well as Germany’s Janina KAMMERER Jennie WOLF and Caroline HAJOK. In Cadet Boys Teams Event Germany’s Danile RINDERER and Kay STUMPER beat USA’s Gal ALGUETTI and Sharon ALGUETTI in the final. Croatia won two bronze medals. Ivor BAN Lovro ZOVKO and Filip BOROVNJAK lost in the semi final against Germany whilst USA beat Leo VEKIC and Gustavo CASTILLO from Chile -Croatia team. France’s Cloe CHOMIS Celia SILVA and Prithika PAVADE won gold in Cadet Girls Team’s Event. They overcame Germany’s Anastasia BONDAREVA and Sophia KLEE at the final hurdle. Bronze went to Slovenia with Lea PAULIN Lara OPEKA and Katarina STRAZAR and Lucia CORDERO from Guatemala and Agata PASZEK from Poland.

2016 ITTF World Tour Belgium Open (Challenge) in De Haan Seeded at the positions no. 15 and 32 Cedric NUYTINCK and Florent LAMBIET booked their places in the Round of 16 of the Men’s Singles Event at the 2016 ITTF World Tour Belgium Open (Challenge) in De Haan at the delight of the home crowd. They joined top seeded Omar ASSAR of Egypt and Germany’s Steffen MENGEL after the first day of the play in the main draw of the event. In Round of 32 NUYTINCK beat Swede Viktor BRODD 1-4 (4-11 4-11 10-12 13-11 7-11) whilst LAMBIET succeeded against Germany’s Dennis KLEIN by same margin (9-11 8-11 7-11 11-7 9-11). However it was not a very bad day for Sweden. Harald ANDERSSON no 21 seed beat Ricardo WALTHER in straight games (11-4 11-6 11-7 11-7). German player seeded at position no. 5 was the highest player on duty to suffer the defeat in second round. Previously no 4 seed Cazuo MATSUMOTO of Brazil lost against KLEIN. Vasily LAKEEV of Russia no 10 seed is also out. He lost against Laurens TROMER of Netherlands. TROMER was required to play in qualifications to reach the main draw. Top seeds in Women’s Singles Event are also safely through to the third round. Hitomi SATO of Japan overcame Lucie GAUTHIER of France in straight games (11-7 11-3 11-7 11-7) whilst Romania’s Elizabeta SAMARA beat Rahel ASCHWANDEN of Switzerland (6-11 14-16 4-11 4-11). It was the first match in Group F of the Women’s Championships Division. In the same group is Wales the team who replaced Luxembourg. Luxembourg will be the host of the 2017 European Championships. Today the host proved too strong for weak Kosovo side. Guests failed to produce any challenge to Austrian team. The draw for round 2 of the ETTU Cup Men The draw for round 2 of the ETTU Cup Men has been done today by the ETTU Ranking Committee Chair Igor HELLER and the Deputy Secretary General Pierre KASS. In Group A the host will be Dutch Enjoy & Deploy Taverzo. In Netherlands will play Russia’s TTC Kazan Italy’s A.S.D. Marcozzi Cagliari and Romania’s CS Mioveni. In Group B the host is SF SKK EL Nino Praha from Czech Republic. They will face the opposition from Spanish Irun Leka Enea Belgium’s TT Vedrinamur and Croatia’s STK Starr Varazdin. Croatia’s STK Libertas Marinkolor will host Israel’s Yironi Givatayim Slovakia’s SK Vydrany and Turkey’s Istanbul BBSK. In Group D SPG Linz will welcom Spanish Cajasur Priego TM Belgium’s TTC Sokah Hoboken and Scotland’s Knightswood Table Tennis in Austria. In each Group the team ranked on position one or two will be qualified for the third round (25 – 27 November 2016).
ETTU Cup Men: Two Belgian clubs go to 2nd stage
TTC Sokah Hoboken and TT Vedrinamur finished on the top of Group C and D respectively. SK Vydrany CS Mioveni ASD Marcozzi Istanbul BBSK STK Starr Varaždin and Knightswood TTC also in the 2nd stage First stage of the ETTU Cup Men with 16 clubs from 10 countries was finished as two Belgian clubs booked their places for the 2nd stage creating a perfect 3-0 record. TTC Sokah Hoboken and TT Vedrinamur finished on the top of Group C and D respectively. Other six clubs which passed successfully first exam in the new season are: SK Vydrany (Slovakia) CS Mioveni (Romania) ASD Marcozzi (Italy) Istanbul BBSK (Turkey) STK Starr Varaždin (Croatia) and Knightswood TTC (Scotland). In the Group A hosted by DT Diddeleng from Luxembourg SK Vydrany (3-0) reached the top spot followed by CS Mioveni (2-1). Host finished third (1-2) and Spanish CTT CER ESCALA fourth (0-3). SK Vydrany`s Samuel NOVOTA was the best player at the tournament with 5-0 score. Host of the Group B ASD Marcozzi won all its games (3-0) followed by Turkey’s Istanbul BBSK (2-1) Spanish GD Toledos (1-2) and Luxembourg’s DT Recken (0-3). Italian side showed a good team work while Philippe SAIVE (individual 3-0 score) couldn’t help DT Recken to avoid the last place. Group C brought most thrilling contest as three clubs from 2nd to 4th place came out with 1-2 score. But host STK Starr Varaždin from Croatia finished second according to the highest set-ratio. Belgium’s TTC Sokah Hoboken was unbeaten while Turk Telekom Ankara Spor Kulubu and Portugal’s G.D. do Centro Social do Juncal won one match each. The same ending happened in the Group D with one dominant side Belgium’s TT Vedrinamur led by its youngster Thibaut DARCIS and three equal Scotland’s Knightswood TTC Turkey’s Sistem Reklam SC and Spanish Colina Clinic Burgos Colina Clinic Burgos (all three 1-2). Knightswood TTC got second spot thanks to the highest set-ratio (4-3). Second stage will be held on October 29-30th as eight clubs await their opponents qualified through Round 1. Two best placed teams from each group will reach stage no. 3.
