In the opening leg of the Europe Cup quarterfinal Romania’s CSM Constanta overcame the French team GRAND-QUEVILLY ALCL. Elena ZAHARIA who won silver in singles and gold partnering with Bianca MEI ROSU in doubles just two days ago at the European Under 21 Championships in Skopje gave her team a dream start against Isa COK. Osijek opens the doors of Gradski vrt for another kick start of the youth series
The Europe Youth Series – Croatia Open kicks off the season for the second time. After a successful premiere last year Osijek will once again host European youth at the Gradski vrt venue from 21st to 25th February. The entries include 155 players from 19 countries: Austria Azerbaijan Belgium Bosnia and Herzegovina Croatia Czechia Denmark Germany Hungary Ireland Italy North Macedonia Montenegro Poland Romania Serbia Switzerland Slovakia Sweden. The tournament will commence with the first round of the Group Stage in Mixed Teams events in the Under 13 and Under 15 categories. The Group Stage of Under 15 Boys and Girls Singles is scheduled for Friday with Doubles matches starting soon thereafter. The tournament concludes on Sunday with Under 15 and Under 13 singles and doubles. Croatia and Czechia are the first crowned champions at the premiere tournament in the Europe Youth Series in Osijek. In the finals of the Under 15 Mixed Teams event Croatia beat Belgium and in the Under 13 Mixed Teams Czechia beat Azerbaijan. Germany and Slovenia secured bronze medals. In the Under 13 Event Czechia prevailed against Azerbaijan while Croatia 1 and Belgium won bronze medals.

The first match of the Europe Cup quarterfinal was played tonight in Austria. Belgium’s TTC SOKAH HOBOKEN was the “host ” but the first leg took place in the Vogelweide Sports Hall. Since the Belgians do not have a venue available both legs will be played in Wels. The Austrian side won the opening leg by the narrowest of margins.
