Kay STUMPER clinched title in Noordwijk
2019 Europe Youth Top-10 Before the start of the last round in the Junior Boys Event at the 2019 Europe Youth Top-10 in Noordwijk four players were possible winners of the event. But in only 24 minutes Kay STUMPER took away all doubts. He beat Csaba ANDRAS of Hungary in straight games to secure the title. Samuel KULCZYCKI of Poland finished second and surprisingly Lilian BARDET of France progressed to the third position. Kay STUMPER came in Netherlands as a third seed. “I did not think I could win the tournament but I had a luck at the beginning. I played the opening round match against Lode HULSHOF and that was the less difficult one. How hard it was at the beginning you can see by the results Vincent PICARD lost to Dorian ZHENG and Samuel KULCZYCKI was beaten by Lilian BARDET I had the opportunity to adjust to the venue ” said Kay. However good luck did not last for long in the third match of the day he was beaten by the Belgium’s Adrien RASSENFOSSE. “That was a really hard one. I lost it 9-11 in decisive game. I could not sleep that night. It haunted me. On the second day of the play in two matches I was 1-2 in reverse against Lilian BARDET and Dorian ZHENG but I recovered in both occasions. I was forced to change my service to play less aggressive to change tactics. It worked..” At the beginning of the third day Kay beat Samuel KULCZYCKI but then lost to Vincent PICARD and sealed the day with the victory over Csaba ANDRAS. “Despite the defeat I had a good feeling. I knew I could win last match.” Kay STUMPER Germany Samuel KULCZYCKI Poland Lilian BARDET France Csaba ANDRAS Hungary Adrien RASSENFOSSE Belgium Olav KOSOLOSKY Belgium Dorian ZHENG France Vincent PICARD France Carlo ROSSI Italy Lode HULSHOF Netherlands First Round Vincent PICARD (France) – Dorian ZHENG (France) 3-4 (5-11 11-3 11-8 3-11 10-12 14-12 5-11) Samuel KULCZYCKI (Poland) – Lilian BARDET (France) 3-4 (11-7 8-11 11-6 11-13 11-6 4-11 9-11) Kay STUMPER (Germany)- Lode HULSHOF (Netherlands) 4-1 (11-3 11-9 9-11 11-5 11-7) Csaba ANDRAS (Hungary) – Carlo ROSSI (Italy) 4-2 (11-8 11-2 8-11 11-9 5-11 11-2) Olav KOSOLOSKY (Belgium) – Adrien RASSENFOSSE (Belgium) 2-4 (12-10 6-11 9-11 11-8 3-11 9-11) Second Round Vincent PICARD – Lilian BARDET 4-0 (13-11 11-8 11-4 11-7) Samuel KULCZYCKI – Lode HULSHOF 4-1 (12-10 11-6 11-4 5-11 11-7) Kay STUMPER – Carlo ROSSI 4-1 (11-9 11-6 13-11 7-11 11-6) Csaba ANDRAS – Adrien RASSENFOSSE 4-1 (11-8 11-6 11-7 9-11 11-8) Olav KOSOLOSKY – Dorian ZHENG 4-3 (11-9 6-11 9-11 11-5 8-11 11-7 11-6) Third Round Vincent PICARD – Lode HULSHOF 4-0 (11-2 11-2 11-3 11-7) Samuel KULCZYCKI – Carlo ROSSI 4-0 (11-7 11-8 13-11 12-10) Kay STUMPER – Adrien RASSENFOSSE 3-4 (9-11 15-13 11-7 9-11 11-8 4-11 9-11) Csaba ANDRAS – Olav KOSOLOSKY 4-3 (4-11 11-9 11-4 11-5 6-11 9-11 13-11) Lilian BARDET – Dorian ZHENG 4-1 (13-11 7-11 11-5 11-2 11-7) Fourth Round Carlo ROSSI – Vincent PICARD 4-3 ( 5-11 14-12 8-11 11-8 6-11 11-8 14-12) Samuel KULCZYCKI – Adrien RASSENFOSSE 4-1 (11-7 11-8 11-9 8-11 11-5) Kay STUMPER – Olav KOSOLOSKY 4-1 (12-10 11-7 11-6 11-13 11-4) Csaba ANDRAS – Dorian ZHENG 4-3 (14-12 9-11 11-9 6-11 10-12 11-9 11-5) Lilian BARDET – Lode HULSHOF 4-0 (11-6 11-3 11-4 11-5) Fifth Round Adrien RASSENFOSSE – Vincent PICARD 4-2 (11-13 11-4 5-11 11-9 12-10 11-6) Samuel KULCZYCKI – Olav KOSOLOSKY 4-1 (11-9 11-6 7-11 11-8 11-8) Kay STUMPER – Dorian ZHENG 4-2 (11-5 7-11 8-11 11-3 11-6 11-4) Lilian BARDET – Csaba ANDRAS 4-3 (5-11 11-6 5-11 11-8 8-11 11-5 11-5) Carlo ROSSI – Lode HULSHOF 4-0 (13-11 18-16 11-8 11-6) Sixth round Olav KOSOLOSKY – Vincent PICARD 4-3 (16-14 11-8 9-11 7-11 10-12 11-2 11-6) Samuel KULCZYCKI – Dorian ZHENG 4-1 (11-6 4-11 11-9 11-5 14-12) Kay STUMPER – Lilian BARDET 4-2 (11-9 9-11 6-11 11-8 11-7 11-5) Csaba ANDRAS – Lode HULSHOF 4-1 (11-7 11-7 11-4 9-11 11-4) Adrien RASSENFOSSE- Carlo ROSSI 4-2 (14-12 4-11 11-7 11-6 8-11 11-9) Seventh Round Kay STUMPER – Samuel KULCZYCKI 4-1 (11-8 11-9 11-9 5-11 11-7) Vincent PICARD – Csaba ANDRAS 4-2 (5-11 10-12 11-5 11-5 11-6 11-2) Adrien RASSENFOSSE- Lode HULSHOF 4-3 (9-11 11-6 11-6 9-11 11-2 8-11 11-2) Olav KOSOLOSKY – Lilian BARDET 4-2 (11-3 11-9 9-11 9-11 11-7 13-11) Dorian ZHENG – Carlo ROSSI 4-2 (11-7 11-7 11-2 9-11 5-11 11-5) Eighth Round Vincent PICARD – Kay STUMPER 4-2 (9-11 8-11 11-9 12-10 11-6 11-8) Samuel KULCZYCKI – Csaba ANDRAS 4-2 (9-11 8-11 11-9 12-10 11-6 11-8) Olav KOSOLOSKY – Lode HULSHOF 4-0 (11-5 12-10 11-6 11-9) Carlo ROSSI – Lilian BARDET 4-1 (11-8 11-5 3-11 11-6 11-6) Dorian ZHENG – Adrien RASSENFOSSE 4-3 (9-11 9-11 11-7 9-11 11-9 11-9 11-7) Ninth Round Vincent PICARD – Samuel KULCZYCKI 4-3 (13-11 11-9 8-11 3-11 6-11 15-13 11-6) Kay STUMPER – Csaba ANDRAS 4-0 (12-10 11-8 11-6 11-2) Olav KOSOLOSKY – Carlo ROSSI 4-2 (6-11 11-6 11-4 10-12 11-9 11-7) Lilian BARDET – Adrien RASSENFOSSE 4-2 (11-8 11-6 11-9 6-11 14-16 11-8) Dorian ZHENG – Lode HULSHOF 4-0 (11-6 11-3 11-7 11-4)
Tania PLAIAN clinched third gold for Romania
Europe Youth Top 10 Tania PLAIAN secured third gold medal for Romania in Netherlands. In the Junior Girls Event at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Noordwijk after outstanding performance in the last match against Jamila LAURENTI she reached the top place at the medal rostrum. Jamila is second and Anna WEGRZYN of Poland is third. The decision who will won the event had to wait until the last round. Then despite the pressure Tania beat Jamila in straight matches. “All our coaches told me to be relaxed and to enjoy the game. They told me to outvoice her because we all know her tactics and how laud she is. I attacked her from the beginning and did not let her control. I study our encounter at the European Championships in Team’s Event when I had a lead and then she beat me ” explained PLAIAN. At the tournament Tania lost two matches against Franziska SCHREINER of Germany and Zdena BLASKOVA of Czech Republic. “The match against Zdena today was the toughest one both mentally and physically.” In Netherlands Tania came as fourth seed. “I had bad performance at the European Youth Championships and I had to prove myself I can play better. It put a lot of pressure on me before I came. Fortunately all that has gone from the first day. When I entered the venue and when I approach the table I knew I could win. I felt the ball I felt very well here. Everything came into the place. Every match was important but the last against Jamila and the duel against the European Champion were something special.” Anna WEGRZYN of Poland is European Champion and she was no. one seed at Top-10; finished third. “I beat Anna at the European Youth Championships in Cluj and I wanted to prove that was not coincidence. I knew I can beat her again ” stated PLAIAN. European champion MOVILEANU clinched another title at Top 10
Europe Youth Top-10 in Noordwijk European champion Darius MOVILEANU confirmed his supremacy and clinched the gold in the Cadet Boys Event at the 2019 Europe Youth Top-10 in Noordwijk. He secured the top step at the medal rostrum already in the eighth round. His teammate secured another medal for Romania – Iulian CHIRITA won silver and Simon BELIK of Czech Republic is third. Poland’s Milosz REDZIMSKI was the only player who managed to beat MOVILEANU at this tournament but speaking about greatest challenges Darius put his teammates in front. “For me the toughest match was against Iulian CHIRITA in second round. It was 3-3 in games and 9-9 when struck of luck helped me to conclude the match in my favor ” explained MOVILEANU. “Against Milosz REDZIMSKI I was not able to return his services. He controlled the game.” He beat Mike HOLLO of Germany in six games. “Beside my teammates he really gave me hard time. He has very good service and strong forehand I needed to work hard to block his attacks and to keep the ball on the table ” added Darius. “ I came here believing I can win the tournament and in good shape but I knew it will only happened if I keep my focus and seriously approach to every match. You do not have place for mistakes when the best players are on list.” After the European Youth Championships in Czech Republic where he won gold medal he spent some time in camp in Luxemburg. “It helped me a lot to work there to improve my game. Two weeks ago I was playing at Croatia open and I lost in the Round of 16 in the match against Chinese player who reached final later. Next in line is World Cadet Challenge. It will be the top of the season. I hope for medal there.” Darius MOVILEANU Romania Iulian CHIRITA Romania Simon BELIK Czech Republic Louis LAFFINEUR Belgium Hugo DESCHAMPS France Milosz REDZIMSKI Poland Mike HOLLO Germany Eduard IONESCU Romania Gabrielius CAMARA Netherlands Jakub GOLDIR Slovakia Cadet Boys First Round Louis LAFFINEUR (Belgium) – Gabrielius CAMARA (Netherlands) 3-4 (11-4 9-11 11-5 6-11 11-9 7-11 7-11) Darius MOVILEANU (Romania) – Eduard IONESCU (Romania) 4-2 (8-11 11-13 11-7 11-6 11-4 11-8) Simon BELIK (Czech Republic) – Iulian CHIRITA (Romania) 4-2 (11-9 7-11 9-11 11-5 16-14 11-7) Mike HOLLO (Germany) – Jakub GOLDIR (Slovakia) 4-0 (11-5 11-6 11-6 11-8) Milosz REDZIMSKI (Poland) – Hugo DESCHAMPS (France) 2-4 (5-11 8-11 11-7 8-11 16-14 9-11) Second Round Louis LAFFINEUR – Eduard IONESCU 4-0 (11-6 12-10 11-8 11-5) Darius MOVILEANU – Iulian CHIRITA 4-3 (11-5 7-11 11-13 11-7 11-6 9-11 12-10) Simon BELIK – Jakub GOLDIR 4-0 (12-10 12-10 11-9 11-5) Mike HOLLO – Hugo DESCHAMPS 1-4 (3-11 11-13 11-13 14-12 9-11) Milosz REDZIMSKI – Gabrielius CAMARA 4-3 (14-12 11-5 16-14 7-11 8-11 11-13 11-9) Third Round Louis LAFFINEUR – Iulian CHIRITA 1-4 (4-11 5-11 10-12 14-12 8-11) Darius MOVILEANU – Jakub GOLDIR 4-0 (11-7 11-4 11-9 11-4) Simon BELIK – Hugo DESCHAMPS 0-4 (4-11 9-11 11-13 10-12) Mike HOLLO – Milosz REDZIMSKI 0-4 (5-11 12-14 5-11 5-11) Eduard IONESCU – Gabrielius CAMARA 3-4 (5-11 11-2 6-11 11-7 11-9 6-11 6-11) Fourth Round Louis LAFFINEUR – Jakub GOLDIR 4-1 (9-11 11-9 11-4 11-5 11-5) Darius MOVILEANU – Hugo DESCHAMPS 4-0 (11-4 15-13 12-10 11-7) Simon BELIK – Milosz REDZIMSKI 4-3 (11-2 2-11 12-10 10-12 13-11 6-11 11-6) Mike HOLLO – Gabrielius CAMARA 4-2 (11-8 11-8 7-11 11-8 6-11 11-8) Iulian CHIRITA – Eduard IONESCU 4-1 (11-6 11-6 9-11 11-6 11-7) Fifth round Louis LAFFINEUR – Hugo DESCHAMPS 4-1 (11-8 8-11 11-7 12-10 11-6) Milosz REDZIMSKI – Darius MOVILEANU 4-0 (11-8 11-8 11-7 11-6) Simon BELIK – Gabrielius CAMARA 4-0 (11-7 11-2 11-6 11-8) Mike HOLLO – Eduard IONESCU 4-0 (11-7 11-2 11-6 11-8) Iulian CHIRITA – Jakub GOLDIR 4-1 (11-9 15-13 11-7 9-11 11-5) Sixth Round Louis LAFFINEUR – Milosz REDZIMSKI 4-2 (10-12 11-8 5-11 11-2 11-5 11-8) Darius MOVILEANU – Gabrielius CAMARA 4-0 (11-5 11-4 11-4 11-8) Simon BELIK – Eduard IONESCU 4-1 (8-11 11-5 11-3 11-2 11-1) Iulian CHIRITA – Mike HOLLO 4-2 (8-11 11-4 7-11 11-4 11-9 12-10) Hugo DESCHAMPS – Jakub GOLDIR 4-1 (11-6 9-11 13-11 11-5 11-4) Seventh Round Darius MOVILEANU – Simon BELIK 4-2 (12-10 3-11 11-8 11-7 8-11 11-8) Mike HOLLO – Louis LAFFINEUR 4-1 (6-11 11-6 11-9 11-9 12-10) Iulian CHIRITA – Hugo DESCHAMPS 4-1 (11-6 7-11 11-7 11-4 11-6) Eduard IONESCU – Milosz REDZIMSKI 4-3 (14-16 8-11 17-15 11-8 8-11 11-3 13-11) Jakub GOLDIR – Gabrielius CAMARA 4-1 (13-11 12-10 11-7 9-11 12-10) Eighth Round Darius MOVILEANU – Mike HOLLO 4-2 (11-6 8-11 5-11 11-9 11-9 11-8) Louis LAFFINEUR – Simon BELIK 4-2 (11-5 11-6 10-12 13-11 9-11 13-11) Hugo DESCHAMPS – Gabrielius CAMARA 4-3 (11-5 8-11 8-11 12-14 11-7 11-4 11-5) Iulian CHIRITA – Milosz REDZIMSKI 4-0 (11-4 11-5 11-4 11-4) Eduard IONESCU – Jakub GOLDIR 4-2 (13-15 11-4 11-9 8-11 14-12 11-8) Ninth Round Darius MOVILEANU – Louis LAFFINEUR 4-2 (7-11 5-11 13-11 13-11 11-6 13-11) Simon BELIK – Mike HOLLO 4-3 (11-5 11-7 4-11 7-11 12-14 12-10 11-7) Milosz REDZIMSKI – Jakub GOLDIR 4-0 (13-11 11-6 11-4 11-8) Eduard IONESCU – Hugo DESCHAMPS 4-2 (5-11 12-10 5-11 11-6 13-11 11-6) Iulian CHIRITA – Gabrielius CAMARA 4-3 (8-11 11-4 11-6 6-11 11-4 8-11 11-6)

Still we had to wait for the outcome of the last match between ZAHARIA and VORONINA to decide the title. However the finish of the tournament failed to deliver great suspense. Romania’s player succeeded in straight games. “I was very positive and I felt I could beat her. She acted the same as it was at the European Youth Championships. VORONINA was very nervous and angry. I saw my opportunity and seized it. Before the match I studied carefully the final in Ostrava and that experience helped also ” explained ZAHARIA. With only five games lost ZAHARIA had hardly faced big challenge. “It helped a little that I had a chance to play against host nation representative Anna PETERS at the beginning. She withdrew later due the injury but that match gave me the chance to warm up and to fell the venue. I think that both players from Germany Annett KAUFMANN and Naomi PRNJAKOVIC play very good; they are very strong.” What is next? “I am looking forward World Cadet Challenge in Poland. I hope I will win medal there too. Also I have Super League matches with C.S. Farul Constanta. We are two times champions in the row and I hope for another title with my older sister.” In the last round the second place was also decided. Annett KAUFMANN beat Helena SOMMEROVA of Czech Republic to clinch silver. Both Annett and Vlada had two defeats. That was my hardest match here but most difficult are yet to come. I will play against Eduard IONESCU and Iulian CHIRITA of Romania tomorrow. After six rounds he occupies position no. 3 at the standings together with Iulian CHIRITA and Hugo DESCHAMPS. They all have two defeats. “At the beginning of the year my rankings were not that good but after the semi final of the European Youth Championships it improved.
