For a sixth time the European Under 21 Championships will deliver the clashes between the young seniors for the five titles in Men’s and Women’s category. This year’s edition brings us once again to Cluj. After memorable European Youth and Senior Championships now beautiful city in Romania opened its doors for Under 21 competitors. Before the start of the Championships we are already sure that the new players will win the titles and the only exception is the title in Women’s Doubles. From the list of the winners from Belgium’s Spa last year on duty again are only Ozge YILMAZ and Ece HARAC. Turkiye’splayers will have the opportunity to defend their title in the Doubles. There are 56 players in each Men’s and Women’s Singles events coming from 28 countries. The matches commences on Wednesday with the singles qualifications. On a second day the Mixed Doubles will join them in the venue and the day will continue with the doubles and singles qualifications. Mixed Doubles final will be played on Saturday whilst remaining four finals are scheduled for Sunday.
EUROPEAN TABLE TENNIS UNION AND SPORTRADAR INTEGRITY SERVICES ENTER PARTNERSHIP
Sportradar Integrity Services a unit of Sportradar (NASDAQ: SRAD) and a global supplier of sport integrity solutions and partner to over 150 sports federations and leagues today announced a bet monitoring agreement with European Table Tennis Union (ETTU). Under the terms of the multi-year agreement matches in the European Championships and Men’s and Women’s Champions League amongst other key events will be monitored by Sportradar Integrity Services via its Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS) an advanced and proven bet monitoring system which has been independently assessed and verified by experts in the field of sports betting and integrity. The UFDS successfully monitored the 2022 European Championships in Munich last month already. Through the UFDS betting patterns on European Table Tennis competitions will be analysed for abnormalities by a global team of qualified integrity experts and any suspicious matches will be reported allowing critical visibility into potential match-fixing threats. Sportradar Integrity Services has detected more than 7 500 suspicious matches during the past 17 years with over 800 of these taking place in 2022 alone. European Table Tennis Union acting president Pedro MOURA said: “Protecting the integrity of European Table Tennis is a top priority so it is vital that there are robust measures in place in to safeguard our competitions from match-fixing. Through this partnership men’s women’s and youth events are all now being monitored through the UFDS. Sportradar has a proven track record in the sports integrity industry and their expert bet monitoring capabilities will play a crucial role in helping to protect the integrity of European Table Tennis events”. ITTF Finland Open 2022 in Lahti
Korea Republic’s JUNG Younga emerged the most successful player when proceedings closed on Sunday 11th September at the ITTF Finland Para Open in Lahti; she claimed the maximum possible three titles. Bronze medallist at both the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and five years later in Tokyo the 43-year-old displayed her high quality. After emerging successful on the second day of action in women’s singles class 5; competing in class 10 she partnered the host nation’s Aino TAPOLA to women’s doubles gold prior to securing the mixed doubles top prize when combining with colleague PARK Jaehyun. Three titles for JUNG Younga it was two for Sweden’s Emil ANDERSSON and Cajsa STADLER a situation that applied also to Chinese Taipei’s SUN Jin-Sian LIN Tzu-Yu and TIAN Shiau-Wen. Gold in men’s singles class 8 Emil ANDERSSON joined forces with Cajsa STADLER to win mixed doubles class 14. Earlier Cajsa STADLER the runner up in women’s singles class 6-7 had partnered Lucie HAUTIÈRE of France to success in women’s doubles class 14. Similar to Emil ANDERSSON SUN Jin-Sian the men’s singles class 10 winner claimed mixed doubles class 20 gold in combination with colleague LIN Tzu-Yu. It was a success that gave LIN Tzu-Yu her second gold of the tournament earlier in the day she had partnered TIAN Shiau-Wen to class 20 women’s doubles success. The win gave TIAN Shiau-Wen a second gold. On the penultimate day of action she had prevailed in women’s singles class 9-10. Meanwhile the French combination of Emeric MARTIN and Sylvain NOEL secured men’s doubles class 18 gold Belgium’s Ben DESPINEUX and Germany’s Henrik MEYER claimed the men’s doubles class 14 title. In the one remaining event to be decided on the last day of play in Finland it was success in mixed doubles class 17 for Jonas HANSSON and Anja HANDEN. “There were altogether 134 players from 28 countries. I think we did it well and Pajulahti Paralympic Training Center is one of the “unobstructed” Sports Institutes in the world so the accessibility is good even for the wheelchairplayers. The winners of the Groups in opening Stage of the Champions League Women are TT Moravsky Krumlov from Czech Republic Italy’s ASD Quattro Mori Cagliari Spain’s Tecnigen Linares and Serbia’s Novi Sad. At home soil TT Moravsky Krumlov had very difficult path. They needed to go full distance in both matches against French ALCL TT Grand-Quevilly and Girbau-Vic TT from Spain. In Group B ASD Quattro Mori Cagliari beat `Spanish Leka Enea Irun GEWO. However Spian emerged successfully in group C. Tecnigen Linares beat SH-ITB Budaörsi Sport Club from Hungary Panathinaikos A.C. TTC Neu Ulm Team Euro unbeaten in Europe Cup Men
After the opening Stage of the Europe Cup Men the winners of the Groups are Austria’s Panaceo Stockerau Germany’s TTC Neu Ulm Team Euro Poland’s LOTTO Polski Cukier Gwiazda Bydgoszcz and Belgium’s TTC Sokah Hoboken. In Group A Panaceo Stockerau beat Slovakia’s TJ Geolog Roznava Croatia’s Libertas Marinkolor and Spain’s Hortitec Alzira TT . In Group B TTC Neu Ulm Team Euro succeeded against Belgium’s TT Vedrinamur and Real Club Cajasur Priego. German A team succeeded in Champions League opening phase as well. Italian clubs most successful in Europe Cup Women opening stage
The winners of four Groups in the opening stage of the Europe Cup Women are three Italian clubs and one Austrian. A.S.D. Tennistavolo Norbello ASV TT Südtirol Asd Tennistavolo Castel Goffredo and Austria’s LZ Linz Froschberg emerged successfully at the top of their respective Groups. A.S.D. Tennistavolo Norbello overcame the hosts of Group A Stolnotenisove Centrum SKST Bratislava French TT Joué les Tours and Belgium’s TT Malonne. They only faced big pressure in the match against club from Tours. In Group B hosts in Austria LZ Linz Froschberg beat Belgium’s KTTC AFP Antwerpen AD Muravera TT A from Italy and French Entente Saint Pierraise TT. In Group C ASV TT Südtirol recorded three straight matches win over Portugal’s Uniao Sebastianense F.C England’s Fusion TTC and Onisilos Lakatamias of Cyprus. The winners in Group D are Asd Tennistavolo Castel Goffredo. They are unbeaten after the wins over Austria’s SU Sparkasse Kufstein Belgium’s TT Vedrinamur and Spain’s Museo de la Almendra Francisco Morales.
TTC Neu-Ulm secured the place in the Second Stage of Champions league
With three straight-matches wins in the opening stage of the Champions league Men Germany’s TTC Neu-Ulm secured the place in the next phase. They overcame Italy’s USD Apuania Carrara Tennistavolo Czech Republic’s TTC Ostrava 2016 and hosts in Romania CSS-SZAK ODORHEIU SECUIESC. In their last match in the Group Neu-Ulm overcame top seeds from Italy. Same as in two previous clashes on duty were YUN-JU Lin Dimitrij OVTCHAROV and Truls MOREGARDH.

With the 2020 World Team Table Tennis Championships in Busan cancelled it has been four years since the event was last held. China took gold in the men’s and women’s events in Halmstad Sweden in 2018. Playing on home soil this year China will once again be the favourite to win the Swaythling and Marcel Corbillon Cups. China has taken the men’s title on the last nine occasions and will go in as top seed. Germany as World No.2 will be set on a breakthrough performance after making four finals in the previous five editions of the event. Meanwhile Sweden was the last team outside of China to stand at the top of the men’s podium and having produced silver medalists in consecutive Men’s Singles World Championships will look for a return to their golden age. In the women’s draw China will be looking for its fifth consecutive title and enter Chengdu as the No.1 team in the world. A spot behind them is Japan who have won silver at the last three championships and will look to their legacy for inspiration as the second most successful women’s team of all-time. While the traditional continental powerhouses will be in action Pan-America will also be eyeing the podium with the most teams from that region competing for the titles in the modern staging of the event. Africa will also be well represented and battling for medals with multiple teams ranked inside the Top 20 headed to Chengdu. The teams will arrive in Chengdu on Monday 26 September via special flights chartered by the ITTF. Participants at the World Championships Finals will be able to enter and leave Chengdu without quarantine. They will stay in a closed-loop management system inspired by the one successfully experimented during the Beijing Games official hotels being connected to the event venue via dedicated transport. Preparations for delivering the 2022 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals – the only international sports event in China this year after the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Games – are a true organisational feat. In Group B in Champions League Men Post SV Mühlhausen 1951 e.V. is in fine run. They secured two wins in two opening matches in Czech Republic. German club prevailed against hosts SKST Tesla Batteries Havirov after a very close five matches battle. Zokhid KENJAEV beat both Steffen MENGEL and Ovidiu IONESCU but it was not enough. Daniel HABESOHN MENGEL and KIM Taehyun each scored for Post SV Mühlhausen 1951 e.V. Austria’s Solex-Consult Wiener Neustadt beat Arteal SD Compostela in straight matches. In second round German club beat Arteal SD Compostela in straight matches whilst SKST Tesla Batteries Havirov prevailed against Solex-Consult Wiener Neustadt. In Group A Top Spin Messina EUCI needed full five matches to overcame GDCS Juncal. Matteo MUTTI won both his matches against Jose MAGALHAES and Kirill SHVETS. Leonardo MUTTI had much harder time. He went full distance against SHVETS and lost but in decisive match he won another long distance thriller against Jose MAGALHAES. Mighty TTC Neu-Ulm beat CSS-SZAK ODORHEIU SECUIESC and TTC Ostrava 2016 in two rounds and tomorrow they will meet USD Apuania Carrara Tennistavolo. Italian side is also unbeaten so far.
