ASC Grünwettersbach Dominates Stage 1 of Europe Cup Men 2024 on Home Soil

In Grünwettersbach, the Stage 1 matches of the Europe Cup Men 2024 concluded, with winners and runners-up from each of the four groups advancing to the next stage.

In Group A, the battle for the top spot came down to the final day. Spanish UNIVERSIDAD DE BURGOS emerged victorious after a dramatic five-match clash against Polish TPF-KS VILLA VERDE OLESNO. Represented by Daniel BERZOSA, Simon BELIK, and Aitor COLINA, the Spanish club won the decisive game of the final match by death point to clinch first place. TPF-KS VILLA VERDE OLESNO, featuring Daniel LIS, Yaroslav ZHMUDENKO, and Rafal TATARCZUCH, finished second. Both teams ended with two wins and one loss. Hungary’s PTE PEAC Kalo-Meh claimed their first win to secure third place, while Italy’s ASD TT SANTA TECLA NULVI finished fourth.

In Group B, hosts Germany’s ASC Grünwettersbach delivered an unbeaten performance to top the group. The team, consisting of Leo DE NODREST, Guilherme TEODORO, and Louis PRICE, handed Slovakia’s SK VYDRANY their first loss. SK VYDRANY, represented by Peter MUSKO, Peter SEREDA, and Zoltan LELKES, finished second. Spanish ALZIRA TENNIS TAULA and Slovenia’s Namiznoteniški klub SAVINJA completed the standings in third and fourth, respectively.

In Group C, Slovakia’s STK VYHNE secured the top position, followed by Poland’s KTS GLIWICE in second place. C.E.R ROBIN HAT PRISCO L’ESCALA ended in third. Representing STK VYHNE were Miroslav HOREJSI, Filip SZYMANSKI, and Boguslaw KOSZYK, while Jaroslaw TOMICKI, Ioannis SGOUROPOULOS, and Dariusz STEUER played for GLIWICE.

In Group D, Spain’s REAL CLUB CAJASUR PRIEGO TENIS DE MESA dominated with two wins, fielding Alberto LILLO, Carlos MACHADO, and Alejandro CALVO. Austria’s SPG Linz claimed second place with Youssef ABDEL-AZIZ, Zhenlong LIU, and Tobias TISCHBERGER. De Boer Taverzo from the Netherlands finished in third.
