The 2026/27 ETTU Champions League Women continues in Budaörs on Saturday, with the second day of Stage 1 bringing another important round of matches in the battle for the two available places in Stage 2.
Friday’s opening day already provided plenty of drama. In Group A, both matches finished 8-7, with MIRÓ Ganxets edging PGE Fibrain KU AZS Politechnika Rzeszow and Linz AG Froschberg overcoming STK Dr. Časl Zagreb. That left MIRÓ and Linz with one victory each heading into Day 2.
In Group B, SKST Plus Hodonin opened with an 8-2 victory over hosts SH-ITB Budaörsi Sport Club, while ASD Quattro Mori Cagliari came through another close encounter to beat Son Cladera TTC – Mallorca 8-7. Hodonin and Quattro Mori therefore started Saturday with one win apiece.
With only the winner of each group progressing to Stage 2, every result carries considerable weight as the qualification picture begins to take shape.
In Group A, STK Dr. Časl Zagreb bounced back strongly from Friday’s narrow defeat, recording an 8-1 victory over PGE Fibrain KU AZS Politechnika Rzeszow.
Kotomi OMODA opened against Ilona SZTWIERTNIA and collected two points for the Croatian side. After OMODA won the first game 11-3, SZTWIERTNIA responded 11-4, but OMODA took the third 11-8.
Margaryta PESOTSKA followed with an excellent performance against Zuzanna WIELGOS, taking all three games 11-6, 11-7, 11-7.
Yun-En TSAI then completed the victory against Paula KRYSINSKA. The first two games were closely contested, with TSAI prevailing 11-9 and 12-10, before taking the third 11-5 to bring the match to an early conclusion.
In Group A, Linz AG Froschberg took an important step towards Stage 2 with an 8-2 victory over MIRÓ Ganxets, making it two wins from two for the Austrian side.
Yurika NAMBA opened against Anastasia KOLISH in a closely fought encounter. NAMBA took the first game 12-10, KOLISH responded 11-8, before the Linz player claimed the third 11-5.
Emiko TAGUCHI also collected two points against Olga VOROBEVA, although she had to recover after losing the opening game 5-11. The next two both went beyond 11 points, with TAGUCHI taking them 12-10, 12-10.
Sara TOKIC then produced the most convincing performance of the match, taking all three games against Olga BLIZNET 11-6, 11-2, 11-8.
NAMBA returned to the table against VOROBEVA and brought the contest to an early finish, taking the next game 11-5 for the decisive eighth point.
The result leaves Linz with two victories from two matches in Group A, following Friday’s 8-7 win over STK Dr. Časl Zagreb.
In Group B, ASD Quattro Mori Cagliari continued their winning run with an 8-5 victory over hosts SH-ITB Budaörsi Sport Club, making it two victories from two matches for the Italian side.
Elizabet ABRAAMIAN recovered from losing the opening game against Nora DOHOCZKI 4-11 to take the next two 11-6 and 11-2.
Dora MADARASZ responded for the hosts against Pauline CHASSELIN. The Hungarian won the opening two games 11-8 and 11-9, before CHASSELIN took the third 11-6.
Tania PLAIAN then added two points for Quattro Mori against Emma SZOSZNYAK. After they shared the opening two games, PLAIAN took the third convincingly 11-4.
ABRAAMIAN returned to face MADARASZ and again collected two points. She won the first game 11-7, MADARASZ replied by the same score, before ABRAAMIAN took the third 11-6.
That left Quattro Mori one point away from victory. CHASSELIN provided it immediately, beating DOHOCZKI 11-5 to complete the 8-5 win.
After opening with an 8-7 victory over Son Cladera TTC – Mallorca on Friday, Quattro Mori now has two wins from two matches in Group B. Budaörs remains without a victory after two rounds.
The final match of Day 2 in Group B saw SKST Plus Hodonin continue their strong run in Budaörs with an 8-2 victory over Son Cladera TTC – Mallorca.
Adina DIACONU gave Son Cladera a good start against Vlada VORONINA, taking the opening game 11-7. VORONINA responded, however, winning the next two 11-9 and 11-3 to collect two points for Hodonin.
Binyue ZHANG then took all three games against Paulina VEGA by the identical score of 11-6, putting the Czech side firmly in control.
Karin GROFOVA added two more points against Eugenia SASTRE. She won the opening two games 11-6 and 11-9 before SASTRE responded by taking the third 12-10.
ZHANG returned to the table against DIACONU with Hodonin needing one more point. Their game proved to be the closest of the match, with ZHANG eventually prevailing 18-16 to complete the 8-2 victory.
The result leaves Hodonin and ASD Quattro Mori Cagliari with two victories each at the top of Group B, setting up a decisive meeting between the two unbeaten sides on Sunday. With only the group winner progressing to Stage 2, their final-round clash will decide who moves on.
