It was a day dedicated to the people of the media in Greece! It was an opportunity to come closer to table tennis and for a little while to escape from the difficulties of every day’s life and be entertained with a popular sport. Last Saturday the second individual table tennis championship for employees in the media took place in Athens. The event organized by the Greek Table Tennis Federation in cooperation with the Greek Association of Sports Journalists, for a six hours colored STAG area of Peace and Friendship Stadium with different colors.

The representatives of the press showed great interest for the event. 68 people participated, 57 men and 11 women, a total of 10 entries were more than the first event in June 2011. They were all in great mood for games. Journalists showed good spirit with countless smiles and teased each other; everyone enjoyed their participation and confirmed the momentum the sport. The tournament included, like last year, three categories: men’s singles and women’s singles event and independent athletes as a special category with current and former athletes.

Journalists, photographers, technicians, and administrators from television and radio stations from political and sports newspapers, magazines, websites and news agencies challenged each other and showed their skills.

The picture in the gym was even more beautiful by the presence of several families. Many of the participants went to the stadium with wives and children and there was no finer thing than seeing boys and girls to seek and get racket and ball to play at the tables or in the aisles! The Greek federation organizes actions in various social groups and everyone is very pleased with the popularity of the Press tournament. With the cooperation of the PSAT puts target to launch this event in the coming years.
