The Battles Begin: 2024 Champions League Men Kicks Off in Suchedniów

The 2024 Champions League Men commenced today in Suchedniów, Poland, where KS Global Pharma Orlicz 1924 Suchedniów is hosting all four groups in the opening stage of the competition.

The top two ranked teams in each group will advance to the Round of 16, where they will face the Top 8 seeded teams of the Champions League. The draw for the next stage will take place on Sunday, following the conclusion of the last group-stage match.

In the opening matches of Group A, the French side Alliance Nîmes Montpellier and the Czech team HB Ostrov z.s. both secured victories.

Czech clubs are making a strong impression. SF SKK EL NINO PRAHA delivered a dominant performance on Day 1, overwhelming Croatia’s STK Starr in a one-sided encounter. In addition Germany ’s Postsportverein Mühlhausen 1951 e.V. beat Romania’s CSS SZAK Odorheiu Secuiesc in similar style.

In the duel between French Lille Métropole T.T and KS Global Pharma Orlicz 1924 Suchedniów, the tournament hosts secured their first win. Meanwhile, in Group B, Croatia’s STK Starr fell to Czech team SF SKK El Niňo Praha.

The longest match of the day took place in Group D. At the end of Day 1, Poland’s UKS Dojlidy Białystok emerged victorious in an almost three-hour duel against Denmark’s Roskilde Bordtennis.

Japan’s Machi ASUKA was the standout player, securing two crucial wins against Tobias RASMUSSEN and Jens LUNDQVIST. In the decisive match, Patryk CHOJNOWSKI sealed the victory for the Polish team.
