The European Under 13 Championships will be held in Kosta, Sweden, bringing together teams from more than 30 countries (24th to 28th September). The event features both mixed team and individual competitions.
Each national team is composed of two boys and two girls, with ties played over five rubbers – beginning with mixed doubles, followed by alternating singles matches. All matches are completed in full, offering every player maximum exposure and competitive experience. The group stage will divide delegations into pools of three or four teams, with the top two advancing to the A final stage and continuing the battle for medals, while lower-placed teams will compete in the B final stage to decide their classification.
A special scoring system is in place to reward every effort. A 5–0 victory brings five points, while even a narrow 2–3 defeat still counts for two points. The scale encourages teams to fight for every game: 5–0 win equals 5 points, 4–1 win gives 4, 3–2 win brings 3, while losses of 2–3, 1–4 and 0–5 are worth two, one and zero respectively.

The Championships will not only decide the strongest mixed teams but also crown champions in Boys’ Singles, Girls’ Singles and Mixed Doubles. In Bucharest 2024, Turkey’s Gorkem OCAL won the boys’ title ahead of Germany’s Lukas WANG, while Sweden’s Siri BENJEGÅRD captured the girls’ crown against France’s Eva LAM. Germany triumphed in the mixed team event over Spain, and OCAL partnered Ela Su YÖNTER to take mixed doubles gold for Turkey.
This year’s entry list once again includes some of the brightest names from Eurotalents and Hopes programs. Romania fields Alexandru POP, currently ranked number two in Europe, alongside Nadalia IONASCU, Kariss Yasmin SERBAN, Bianca Stefania TOMA, Mihai IORDAN and Armand CZIGLER. POP, who reached the quarterfinal in 2024, also competed at the Under 15 level in Ostrava this summer.
Germany brings a strong group with Melissa BILL, Emma Sophie LI, Lotta ROTHFUSS, Jonathan KRAFT, Kirill MANALAKI and Jeffrey WEI.
Sweden will rely on Saga BLANCK, Leah TULEFALT, Esther WARENFELDT, Filip AROSELL, Zac HALLÉN and Joel ISAKSSON, the latter ranked seventh in Europe and already experienced from last year’s edition and this year’s Youth Series.
Czechia includes Adela BRHELOVA, Helena KAMARADOVA, Kristyna KONECNA, Filip BEDNAR, Richard FEBER Jr. and Tomas MATUSKA, with BRHELOVA already a Round of 16 finisher at the Under 15 European Youth Championships. France has nominated Albane ROCHUT, Lisa ZHAO, Simon CLIN, Tim ESCUDIER and Noah LEBRASSEUR, while Spain is represented by Aina CASANOVAS, Carmen GOMEZ, Celia VALPUESTA, Marcos GOMEZ, Alexander MALOV and Ladimir MAYOROV. MAYOROV, Europe’s number one in the rankings, was a bronze medalist last year and impressed again in Ostrava with quarterfinal runs in singles and mixed doubles. MALOV, ranked third, also adds strength to the Spanish line-up.
Slovakia can boast one of the headline names of the tournament with Barbora Melisa GUASSARDO, ranked third in Europe, supported by Bianka BACSOVÁ, Vivien MURKOVÁ, Juraj De MIGUEL and Filip NAGY.
With such a broad mix of established junior stars and fresh faces, the European Under 13 Championships in Kosta promise thrilling matches and valuable lessons for all participants. Every round could bring new stories of breakthrough talent as the next generation of European champions takes its first major step onto the international stage.
