In Memory of Harvey WEBB, Secretary of the Swaythling Club International

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harvey Webb, Secretary of the Swaythling Club International. Harvey passed away on Thursday, November 7, at St Michael’s Hospice in St Leonards-on-Sea, England, following a courageous battle with mesothelioma, a rare condition caused by asbestos exposure earlier in his life.

Harvey’s legacy in table tennis spans decades. Beginning as a player, he went on to serve as an esteemed administrator and organizer, consistently dedicating his time to the sport he loved without seeking recognition. His contributions extended across club, league, and county levels, where he held numerous influential roles.

In his career, Harvey became the National Events Manager for what is now Table Tennis England. Later, he served as the Secretary of the Swaythling Club International, having previously held the position of Deputy President. Harvey was honored with multiple awards, including the prestigious Ivor Montagu Award in 1981, election as a Vice-President in 1986, the AK Vint Staff Award in 2004, and, in 2011, he was named an Honorary Life Member of Table Tennis England.

Harvey WEBB’S commitment and passion for table tennis have left an indelible mark on the sport. He will be deeply missed.
