Romania’s DRAGOMAN and DIACONU second and third

Audrey ZARIF of France won the title in the Junior Girls Singles Event at the JOOLA European Top 10 in Prague. In the very last match Adina DIACONU of Romania, the leading player throughout the whole tournament, suffered first defeat and lost her crown; she finished third. Andrea DRAGOMAN of Romania is second.

Audrey ZARIF of France kept her spirit high. She started the last round with one defeat and odds against her, but she did not hold back. In the ultimate match she beat Adina in straight games.

“I never beat Adina before. I still remember her victory in the semi final of the European Championships last year. Even now, when everything is finished, I cannot believe I won the match. And I won it in superb style!” said ZARIF.

The fact that she has nothing to lose helped.

“I knew who is on the other side of the net. She was the favorite from the very first minute of the game. It gives me freedom to be less stressed. I just went there to show my best.”

Audrey’s service game was very powerful.

“I put a lot of variation and surprised Adina. She did not know what to expect and that give me certain advantage. Also my attitude was very important. I was brave, I believed in my game and I attacked. I did not let Adina control the game.”

ZARIF suffered defeat in only one match at the tournament. She lost her encounter against Andreea DRAGOMAN of Romania.

“This is the tournament where everything can happen. Every girl can beat every one. It was difficult when I lost against Andreea, but I was very happy after my victory over Tin Tin Ho. She beat me in quarterfinal of the European Championships in seven games duel. It was very important victory for me here,” said ZARIF.

Audrey is playing for French St. Quentin in French Pro A, but she lives in Belgium.

“I moved to Belgium, because my coach lives there,” explained ZARIF.
