China’s XU Xin, the second seed once again celebrated in the Gulf region of the World. XU won the Men’s Singles title at the GAC Group 2014 ITTF World Tour Qatar Open in Doha. In the Women’s Singles final, HU Limei emerged victorious in Doha to complete the China’s success In the final XU Xin beat Chinese Taipei’s CHUANG Chih-Yuan, the no.6 seed, in five games (13-11, 11-4, 4-11, 11-6, 11-5). It was the tenth time that XU Xin had appeared in an ITTF World Tour Men’s Singles final; it was the eighth time that he had won. Meanwhile, for CHUANG Chih-Yuan it was his 14th ITTF World Tour Men’s Singles final, the 11th time he finished as the silver medallist.

Playing in her first ever ITTF World Tour Women’s Singles final, China’s HU Limei won the title. In a gruelling final that was both physically and mentally exhausting she overcame Austria’s LIU Jia the no.12 seed to secure the top prize. HU Limei succeeded in six games ( 11-9, 9-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-6, 14-12).

It was for LIU Jia her tenth appearance in an ITTF World Tour Women’s Singles final, it was the sixth time she had finished in runners up spot.
