Titles for Ricardo WALTHER and YANG Xiaoxin in Zagreb

After seven games duel Ricardo WALTHER of Germany clinched the title at the Men’s Singles Event at the GAC Group 2014 ITTF World Tour Croatia (Zagreb) Open.

In the final WALTHER beat Japan’s Masaki YOSHIDA (7-11, 11-3, 11-8, 11-13, 11-7, 14-16, 2-11). Previously, in semi final YOSHIDA halted the progress of his compatriot Yuto MURAMATSU, whilst German player beat Tonin RYUZAKI also of Japan.

YANG Xiaoxin of Monaco beat Misako WAKAMIYA in five games (11-6,11-7,11-9,6-11,11-7) to denied Japan of title in Women’s Singles Event. In semis YANG overcame Iveta VACENOVSKA of Czech Republic and WAKAMIYA succeeded against Camelia POSTOACA of Romania.

Alexandre ROBINOT won the Under 21 Men’s Singles event beating Poland’s Jakub DYJAS at the final hurdle to cause a minor upset; he was the no.7 seed as opposed to his adversary who occupied the position one place higher. ROBINOT recovered from a three games to one deficit to record a seven games success (11-9, 8-11, 10-12, 12-14, 11-5, 11-6, 11-5).
