Highest ranked player on duty in the Women’s Singles Event at the GAC Group 2014 ITTF World Tour, Croatia Open in Zagreb, Georgina POTA of Hungary secured her place in second round of the main draw.

POTA beat Alice BARENDREGT of Netherlands in straight games to advance to next round. Petra PETEK of Croatia joined her after valuable victory over Haruka SAKAI of Japan. SAKAI is seeded at position no. 13, whilst PETEK required qualification to reach main draw. Sibel REMZI of Bulgaria beat Elena TROSHNEVA of Russia ti upset the packing order.

Top seeds in men’s Singles Event Yuto MURAMATSU of Japan also safely moved to third day of the competition. Martin HEIMBERGER of Austria placed at position no. 291 at the World rankings beat Joao GERALSO of Portugal, ranked at position no. 189. Miho SIMOVIC of Croatia, world’s no. 316 accounted for his former teammate, now Dutch player Borna KOVAC.
