European farewell at China Open in Chengdu

At the quarterfinal stage of the Men’s and Women’s Singles Event at the GAC Group 2014 ITTF World Tour, China Open (Super) in Chengdu only Asians will play.

Bastian STEGER of Germany was the last European representative in the Round of 16 of the Men’s Singles Event, but for the place in the quarterfinal he faced top seeded XU Xin of China. Previously XU overcame FENG Xiaoquan of Austria, whilst STEGER accounted for SUN Chia-Hung of Taipei. In same round Germany’s Steffen MENGEL lost against Koki NIWA of Japan.

In Women’s Singles Event HAN Yang of Germany suffered by the hands of WU Yang of China in the Round of 16.

In Women’s Doubles Event Germany’s HAN Ying and WU Jiaduo won bronye, they reached semi final after victory over LIN Chia-Hui and LIU Hsing-Yin of Taipei, but failed to halt the progress of their compatriots CHENG I-Ching and HUANG Yi-Hua.
