Chartres and Bogoria reached quarters

Top four seeds, Orenburg, Borussia, UMMC and Chartres are among eight quarter finalists of 2014/15 Men`s European Champions League, as well as reigning champion Pontoise, 2008 winner Wienviertel Niederosterrech, the 2012 semi-finalist Saarbrucken and Polish champion Bogoria. Tonight group stage is finished by Round 6 with two clashes in the focus, one in Sweden, Eslovs – Chartres 2:3, and other in France, Hennebont – Bogoria 1:3. The 2013 runner-up Chartes won its crucial game to secure next stage after bad start in Group B, while Bogoria overcame Kalinikos KREANGA`s side thanks to Korean OH Sang Eun who obtained two points.

In Group A top seeded Orenburg beat away Roskilde 3:0, playing in its usual line-up Vladimir SAMSONOV, Dimitrij OVTCHAROV, Alexei SMIRNOV. Some clubs changed their squads tonight, to rest their leading players, but Russian champion always shows its best possible trio. Pontoise lost at home from Olimpia Unia 3:1, playing without WANG Jian Jun. Polish club continues to ETTU Cup quarter final, while Roskilde finished fourth.

Despite three wins in a row Eslovs will not play in the quarter final, because they lost tonight from Chartres 3:2. XU Huo took both points for the host side, beating Par GERELL and GAO Ning. On the other side each played of French champion reached one point. One of key moments was seen in the third match between Mattias OVERSJO and Robert GARDOS, when guest in the late fifth set took six points in a row. In the latest clash Par GERELL overcame Robert SVENSSON in five games. These two players also met in the ultimate chapter of previous meeting in France, when SVENSSON won in five games.

Niederosterrecih booked its place in the quarter final before Round 6, but however defeated tonight Werder Bremen away 3:1. The 2008 MECL champion goes to the Top 8 phase from no. 1 spot of Group B

In Group C UMMC and Saabrucken secured their quarter final positions earlier. Russian team beat Sten Marketing in five games, while German side lost at home from Angers 3:0. Saarbrucken didn’t play in its best line-up, while French team was motivated to reach ETTU Cup quarter final. Jon PERSSON, Jens LUNDQVIST and Kenji MATSUDAIRA had no problem to beat Adrien MATTENET, Cedric NUYTINCK and Marc RODE respectively.

Borussia beat Walter Wels 3:1 playing without Timo BOLL in Grpup B. German champion, like Orenburg and UMMC, won all six games in group phase. Bogoria won in Hennebont 3:1 in crucial match for both sides. OH took two points (Kalinikos KREANGA, Dimitrij PROKOPCOV) and Daniel GORAK one (PROKOPCOV).
