New evidence of that is last Saturday’s game of Women’s European Champions League: Berlin Eastside – Fenerbahce 3:2. The guest had 2:0 (1:0 in third match) lead, but 2012 champions somehow turned the game.
“I was thinking that final match in 2013 European Championship was very nice, but what the spectators have seen on last Saturday it’s something more than Women’s TT! Very nice atmosphere with Turkish fans und unbelievable high level TT from girls”, stressed Berlin’s coach Irina PALINA about amazing clash of WECL Round 2.
In first game HU Melek beat SHAN Xiaona 3:2, as Viktoria PAVLOVICH did against Kristin SILBEREISEN. When Elizabeta SAMARA took first set in battle with Georgina POTA, no.1 seed was very close to the victory. But, Hungarian reached next three sets in a row, announcing the big surprise. We asked PALINA how did she feel in that moment?
“After 0:2 and 0:1 for POTA I get red card and was one of spectators and since that moment match went to another way! Everybody joked about this, but its fact. In my last coaching I said to Gina POTA, that she has try to collect points and sets, because at the end it can be very important. And she started to collect!!!”
SHAN Xiaona leveled on 2:2 against two times individual European champion Viktoria PAVLOVICH in straight sets, and ultimate word had good defensive player Irene IVANCAN who played fifth encounter instead Berlin’s no. 2 player SILBEREISEN.
“I put IVANCAN instead of SILEBEREISEN, because after first match I saw, that HU Melek was in very good form and if we come to this match, than Irene, with her difficult play system would have more chance.”
This Friday (19h00) Berlin will play one more big game. They arrive in Schwechat, to meet SVS STROCK, in reprise of 2012 WECL final. It will be nice to see new game between LI Fen and SHAN Xiaona, the finalist of recent single’s final of 2013 LIEBHERR European championships. Of course – in same hall where they met in battle for gold!
“Match against STRÖCK will be same difficult like against Fenerbahce. The all scores are possible. To win we have to play very good and fight till the end”, concluded Irina PALINA.
