LI Fen is new crowned champion in Schwechat. Swede who plays for Austrian team SVS Strock triumphed in front of her supporters in Multiversum. In the final she beat Germany’s SHAN Xiaona in thrilling six games. “It is like dream come true. On my first European Championships I reached gold. I still can not believe it,” said LI who came to Sweden 10 years ago. All four semi finalists in the Women’s Singles Event played for a first time at the Continental Championships and all four players, according to the ITTF regulations, are not eligible for the World Championships. In the first semi final HAN Ying put under pressure SHAN Xiona in the first game but after that part SHAN took full control. Once again in fourth game HAN raised her game on higher level, but SHAN managed to return on right track.
“We know each other for eight years now and that was great advantage for me. I am pleased that I reached so far both in the doubles and singles,” stated SHAN who easily red HAN’s spin changes and easily deal with short pimples.
Supporters in Multiversum were happy to see SVS Strock player in the final. LI Fen of Sweden overcame FU Yu of Portugal in six games.“It was difficult match for me, because FU has very strong service game. I had to play tactically well, could not finish the point in single stroke. I was very tired and also I learned my lesson from yesterday’s quarters -I could not allowed long points,” said LI.
