No. 1 seed of Women`s European Champions League, Fenerbahce defeated today the 2012 champion Berlin Eastside 3:1 in Round 5 of 2013/14 WECL, and now both clubs are leveled in Group A, having 3-2 score. In the second tonight`s game, in Group B, reigning champion Linz AG Froschberg beat 2012/13 ETTU Cup finalist Zamek Tarnobrzeg at home 3:2, continuing season as unique unbeaten WECL club (5-0 score).

Berlin won first game against Turkish side at home 3:2, when Irene IVANCAN concluded the match against HU Melek (3:2). This time HU had a last word against 2011 European vice-champion, and their meeting again needed five sets.

HU Melek was excellent today; overcoming first SHAN Xiaona in four sets (she also beat her in Berlin, also in opening encounter). Turkish player forced her backhand and guest had no answer for it, especially in late second set when host took several points on that way. Ultimate set was ended by HU`s four points in a row (7:6, 11:6)

CHENG I-Cheng moved Fenerbahce one step closer to the win, beating Irene IVANCAN in five sets. German saved one set ball in third game and led 2:1 in sets, but host dominated in the rest of the match.

Two times individual European champion Viktoria PAVLOVICH lost from Georgina POTA who kept the chances of Berlin. The ultimate, fifth set was concluded by three points in a row of Hungarian.

Linz again prevailed over Zamek, but Polish champion showed that has capacity to beat the best European clubs. Austrian team secured top spot in Group B while Zamek is almost 90 % in the semis.

Triple medalist from 2013 LIEBHERR European Championships, HAN Ying won both her games, but Linz had better team work. Host coach BIAN Yadong put LIU Jia on no. 3 position, while Petrissa SOLJA was no. 2. Iveta VACENOVSKA opened the clash against Renata STRBIKOVA, wining in five games.

HAN beat SOLJA in four sets, and LIU again brought the lead to the host, defeating JUN Jia in straight games.

Member of German national team, HAN prevailed VACENOVSKA in fourth encounter. Finally, SOLJA took the winning point against STRBIKOVA playing five sets. Young German was better than Czech also in Tarnobrzeg`s clash, when they played as no. 3 players.
