For a first time in the history of the European Championships in the final of the Women’s Doubles Event will play four players from the same federation. Petrissa SOLJA and Sabine WINTER, Germany’s national champions in doubles in 2013 will play against – Zhenqi BARTHEL and SHAN Xiaona in the final of the Women’s Doubles Event at the LIEBHERR European Championships in Schwechat. It will be the re-run of the German national Championships from this year. 
The winners of German open 2012 overcame Galia DVORAK and Matilda EKHOLM the Spanish/Swedish combination in the penultimate stage. They were stretched to full distance, and they were losing 1:3, before recovered to win. “We have not played against them before. We were down today against Cristina HIRICI and Bernadette SZOCS earlier, as well, but we were not afraid,” explained Sabine WINTER.

It seams that German double become expert in winning “lost” matches. “They beat us in the final of national championships, after we were 3:1 up…But we will fight hard tomorrow,” explained Zhenqi BARTHEL

Zhenqi BARTHEL and SHAN Xiaona overcame SHEN Yanfei and Sara RAMIREZ of Spain on their way to the final. “We had a slow start. SHAN is tired from so many matches,” explained BARTHEL.
