At the Euro-Africa Circuit Swedish Open in Helsingborg host nation representatives made a good run in the opening stage of the Singles Event. In the Round of 16 tomorrow will play 10 Swedish players.

In the round of 32 Hampus NORDBERG beat Borna KOVAC of Croatia in an epic battle. The match concluded with the score 13:11 in the 7th game after NORDBERG was 7:10 down. “It was a really hard match and it felt all the time that it was 50-50 who is going to win. It was all about the short game and we both needed to have quality there to win points. Right now I am just happy that I somehow managed to succeed” said Hampus NORDBERG.

Antony TRAN beat surprisingly comfortable Bejamin ROGIERS of Belgium 4:0 and now will face Mattias OVERSJO in the round of 16.

Local hero Robert ERIKSSON (playing for the club in BTK Rekord in Helsingborg) upset the rankings by beating seeded Tomas LEBRETON of France 4-2. In the next round he will face club compatriot Simon ARVIDSSON, who also succeeded against another seed Sanil SHETTY of India 4:0 after a convincing performance.

Hampus SÖDERLUND took his revenge against Benedikt DUDA, Germany 4-1. DUDA won against SODERLUND in the team event.

In Men’s team semi final Sweden A overcame India 3:0, Germany beat Norway A 3-0. In Women’s teams final will play India who overcame Sweden 3:1 and Belarus after success over Germany in straight matches. It were quite comfortable matches for the winning teams. Shimini KUMARESAN showing her Indian team the way to a 3-1 victory.
