Still fresh from the triumph in the German Cup, 1. FC Saarbrucken recorded opening leg win in the quarterfinal of the European Champions League. Club from Germany on their away match overcame French GV Hennebont in straight matches.

In the Opening duel Darko JORGIC overcame Cedric NUYTINCK 0:3 (3:11, 7:11, 9:11). Unlike his clubmate, Patrick FRANZISKA was stretched to full distance in the match against Omar ASSAR 2:3 (7:11, 11:5, 9:11, 11:9, 4:6). Tomas POLANSKY sealed the match with the win over Anders LIND in four games (11:9, 9:11, 7:11, 11:13).

“Darko played really good in the opening match, he was the better one in this match and the result speak for itself. The next one between ASSAR and Patrick was very difficult and important. Patrick was 3:0 down in the decisive game and he came back to win 6:4. In my match I was prepared. I knew how dangerous is LIND. I was very focused and I tried to put each ball on the table. At the end all three of us are very happy with our performance. We are looking forward return leg in Saarbrucken,” said Tomas POLANSKY.
