Extraordinary Congress of the European Table Tennis Union

On February 13, the Extraordinary Congress of the European Table Tennis Union took place online. The main topics on the agenda were the consideration of the budget of income and expenses for 2021, the plan of competitions and events of ETTU, as well as the results of negotiations with the ITTF on the Master Continental Agreement.

Congress delegates approved the draft budget for 2021 and the financial report for 2020.

ETTU Deputy President Pedro MOURA told Congress about the relationship between ETTU and ITTF. The topic of relations between the ITTF was also part of the speech of ITTF President Thomas WEIKERT and ETTU President Igor LEVITIN, as well as presidents of a number of national associations. The discussion showed that the disagreements were not fully settled and agreed to continue negotiations until the problematic issues were completely removed.

Both proposals related to the regulations of the European Youth Championships and the Top 10 European Youth Championships received the green light. To adjust the junior age category in accordance with the decision of the ITTF Board of Directors (November 19, 2020), junior players must be under the age of 19, and not under the age of 18, as was the case previously.

All ETTU managers - Neven CEGNAR (development), Alen IVANCIN (competition) and Beatrice ROMANESCU (marketing) - proposed work plans for the next four years in their areas of activity. It was decided to send the draft work plans for consideration to the national associations and recommend, by March 1, 2021, to give proposals for their further approval at the ETTU Executive Board meeting in March.
