Junior Event at the European Youth Top 10

Two third of the Junior Boys matches concluded in five games during two days of the play at the European Youth Top 10 in Berlin. The leading name in this statistic is Adam KLAJBER of Slovakia, who played all his five matches in five games and lost four of them.

Ivor BAN is not far from this record. He played four matches and three of them finished after fifth set. He also lost only one match at the beginning of the tournament, but today she showed no mercy. He beat Tomas MARTINKO of Czech Republic, Adam KLAJBER of Slovakia and Filip DELINCAK of Slovakia.

“Against MARTINKO I was down in the fifth game, my game was not steady, but I was not losing my head. I won decisive game by narrow margin and that gave me extra confidence,” explained BAN.

Against KLAJBER we saw table tennis marathon.

“I had a 2:1 lead and we played extra-long fourth game. With lot of advantages on both sides, KLAJBER won 24:22. I said ‘All right’ and continued that match like nothing happened. I put that game completely out of my mind and won the decisive game. I was prepared for such scenario. My coach and I talked a lot about the tactics and I was ready mentally. Like I was ready for the match against DELINCAK. I beat him 3:0, despite the fact that our previous matches were always close 50-50.”

Only unbeaten player on the field is Kay STUMPER of Germany. Among his victims today were Olav KOSOSLOSKY of Belgium, who suffered only one defeat in five rounds.

“My performance was not bad in that match. I had 6:0 in first game, I was close to win the second one. If it was 1:1 it will be different story,” explained KOSOSLOSKY.

Before this match KOSOLOSKY overcame DELINCAK and KLAJBER.

“ I never played against KLAJBER before, so I needed time to adjust to his game. The main point was to find the right service – return game. I had to explore and to fight for each ball. Against DELINCAK I played three games and won. I guess he was under pressure because he had really bad luck in previous match. This is the tournament where you can finished way behind because of few unlucky situations. When you miss chance or two there is no space to come back,” said KOSOLOSKY.
