Tough group for TTCL host Borussia Düsseldorf

Hennebont, de Boer Taverzo and Dekorglass Dzialdowo in the same group with Borussia Düsseldorf

 

 

The TTCL group draw for the remaining positions was held today in Luxembourg. The Table Tennis Champions League Men will be held from 11th to 18th December and it will be played in Germany's city of Düsseldorf. In the TTCL, 15 teams had reconfirmed participation by signing the new conditions of participation.

 

“It is a big challenge to organise such a great tournament. We are happy to be host for TTCLM. In December Düsseldorf will be again the capital city of table tennis in Europe. Orenburg is the favourite to win the title. Our goal is to reach the semifinals at least and we will have a chance as underdog,” said Borussia Düsseldorf Team Manager Andreas PREUSS.

 

The teams already drawn into positions 1 and 2 in the groups remain unchanged; teams were drawn at positions 3 and 4.

 

Group A

Russia's Fakel-Gazprom Orenburg is the leader at the seedings and at the top of the Group A. Poland's KS Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Germany’s Post SV Mühlhausen 1951 e.V. and Spain’s Leka Enea TDM.

 

Group B

Russia’s club, TTSC "UMMC", is at the top of the Group B. They will meet Portugal's Sporting Clube de Portugal and Czech Republic’s TTC Enfireex Ostrava.

 

GROUP C

In Group C Germany's 1. FC Saarbrücken TT will play against Denmark's Roskilde Bordtennis BTK 61, Austria’s SPG Walter Wels and French AS Pontoise Cergy TT.

 

GROUP D

Winners two years ago, Germany's Borussia Düsseldorf is at the top of the Group D. In the same group is French GV Hennebont TT, Netherland’s de Boer Taverzo and Poland’s K.S. Dekorglass Dzialdowo (POL).

 

Borussia Düsseldorf Team Manager Andreas PREUSS clarified the conditions of play under the strickt COVID 19 mesuares:

 

“The event will be played in the bubble format and it means creation of a secured environment for all persons taking part in the Champions League: players, coaches, umpires, staff etc... everybody must arrive with a recent negative test certification and make a further test upon arrival. All TTCL visiting teams will stay in the official hotels and only use the official transportation. During the whole competition period none of the participants is allowed to exit from the dedicated spaces. In the hotel there will be a separate dining room accessible for only the CL participants. Shuttle cars, field of play and training tables will be cleaned and desinfected regularly.”
