2019/20 Table Tennis Champions League Men, quarter-finals, return leg (February 13-14)

The final clashes for the place in the penultimate phase of the 2019/20 Table Tennis Champions League Men are on the program on Thursday and Friday. In Germany, Borussia Düsseldorf will meet Roskilde Bordtennis BTK61 (Thursday 19 CET) and 1. FC Saarbrücken TT will play against Post SV Mühlhausen 1951 e.V. (Friday 19 CET), whilst on Friday in Russia Fakel Gazprom Orenburg will face GV Hennebont TT (13 CET) and TTSC UMMC will meet KS Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki (15 CET).

Borussia Dusseldorf won the opening leg against Roskilde Bordtennis BTK61 3:0, so it is hard to expect big upsets there. For sure one man justified great shape last weekend in Montreux at the Europe Top 16 Cup. Nevertheless, Danny HEISTER, Borussia Dusseldorf coach is not relaxed.

“We had a great performance in the match in Roskilde. We won 3:0, but it is never over. We will take the match serious and prepare good. Timo BOLL won the Europe Top 16 and is in good shape, we want to finish the match at home and we are looking forward to it,” said HEISTER.

Roskilde team manager Allan BENTSEN is aware how difficult task they have.

“We have a hard job in Dusseldorf, we will of course try but, 0-3 and 3-9 in set is difficult to overcame. Hope to make a good match and then we will be back next year.”

FC Saarbrucken won the opening leg against Post SV Muhlhausen but in very close encounter.

„The first match in Mühlhausen was great table tennis performance from both teams. All three players from my team will need a perfect day. We will fight for every ball to manage this big challenge, “ said Post SV coach Erik SCHREYER.

Ovidiu IONESCU added: „We are outsiders after losing the first match but I am sure we are ready to challenge Saarbrücken and try to qualify to the semi-finals. I had ten days off without matches and I looking forward to play again.“

KS Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki created miracles recoveries in the opening leg of the duel against TTSC UMMC. They won 3:1, but in this super exciting clash, host players reversed score from 0:2 to 3:2 three times in a row.

"After the last match, we were analyzing it together and could not find the reason for the loss. Everyone played well, I didn’t have anyone to blame, just as if fortune turned away from us. I hope in the second match we will be lucky. Of course, TTC Bogoria is now in a better position, they can keep the same. At first sight, all players look good and are ready to fight for reaching the semifinals. I’ll evaluate their sport shape after training. Let's hope that at home, in front of our fans, we can take revenge from the Polish club," stated coach UMMC Tatiana KUTERGINA.

Reigning TTCLM champion Fakel Gazprom Orenburg beat GV Hennebont 3:1 in the first leg in France. Dimitrij OVTCHAROV was man of the match as he secured two points for his side.

“We are looking forward to the return match with the French club GV Hennebont TT. After good performances at the last World competitions, our players are ready to prove their superiority once again in the second match of the TTCLM quarterfinal. All team players are determined to fight and are ready, as always, to please their spectators with a world-class table tennis. We believe in the victory of Fakel-Gazprom,” said TTC Fakel-Gazprom vice-president Victor ANDREEV.
